His firm, FamQuest, Inc., provides leadership and soft skills training for youth. Many of his clients call him "Coach D" for his high-energy coaching style of motivation and his ability to bring out the best in people.
Not letting childhood challenges stop him, DarrellÂs passion walk began early in life. As the son of a high school dropout and a single mother on welfare, he became a three-sport all-star in high school, a leader at his college and the first in his family to graduate from college. This is an amazing feat considering that when he arrived on his college campus, he was not registered to attend neither did he have the money to pay for room and board. But his passion for more out of life compelled him to pack everything he owned into five garbage bags and hop on the bus to a city where he had never been with a one-way ticket and $42 dollars in his pocket. When reflecting on the experience, Darrell states, "I didnÂt know where I was going, but it had to be better than where I was."
Again, later in life having a successful corporate career, he once again decided to go after his passion: training and motivating others to maximize their potential. Having the memory of a failed business earlier in life, this did not keep him down. He once again took a leap of faith, left the comfort of his corporate job and started FamQuest, Inc. The passion Darrell demonstrates in life is evident in everything that he does. The U.S. Department of Labor has recognized his firm, FamQuest, and he is known for his success in helping individuals overcome interpersonal obstacles to success.
He passionately serves his community where he is the chairperson for the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban LeagueÂs EDAC Contracting, Procurement and Professional Services Subcommittee, a member of the City of Wilmington Economic Development Conference Committee and the Delaware Department of Transportation Community Advisory Committee. He has been recognized as one of the top 40 minority executives under the age of 40 for the Philadelphia region and has been honored by the City of Wilmington, Delaware for being a role model as a business owner and a community leader. He reproduces his passion and success in others wherever he goes.
Darrell "Coach D" Andrews is an inspiration to all who want more out of life, despite the challenges of their past, the criticisms of others or their current economic condition. In writing the book How To Find Your Passion And Make A Living At It! his purpose is to cause others to, "Have A Passionate Day!"
