on _find your way_ gabrielle does for the world of r&b-influenced pop music (referred to as "swing" in the uk) what erykah badu did some five years later for soul music. on the ten-track album, the smokey-voiced gabrielle delivers a quality of music that was rare for 1993. in response, talent-starved listeners kept the albums debut release, "dreams", on the charts and the dancefloors for weeks. at the time (and even now) gabrielle's voice and musical style were unlike anything heard before. it is hard to identify any of the songs and album stand-outs because they all maintain a high level of lyrical intensity and vocal mystery. fans of this album should also enjoy gabrielle's less-publicized sophomore eponymous release.

There one song on this cd called"Dreams", that i heard for the first time in 1994, and fell in love with this song. A friend of mine that died that same year is the one that let me hear it for the first time, he also had the remixes to the song. I think I like more today than then because it is true, DREAMS do come true and I am living proof. There was dreams in the past that i had and they did and still at this time coming true.After he passed away, I wanted to buy the single of this song that also included the remixes but I couldn't find it in any store, so I decided to write LONDON RECORDS in New York and I not only got info on the single but there was a copy of the single that to empoyees recorded for me, one name the one that wrote me the letter that i couldn't read but the other name was Ann Marie and they even left anumber for me to call back if I needed anything else,#212-603-6777. "Find Your Way" by Gabrielle is a great CD which came out in '93. The song "Dreams" is her most popular hit and is on Find Your Way. "Dreams" is very inspirational and heart touching as well. I got this after hearing "Dreams" on the radio one day back in '93. I still listen to this CD even though its 10 or 11 yrs old now. Other great songs on here are: "I Wish," "Find Your Way," and "Second Chance." This is a pretty short album (with only 10 tracks), though it's still good and worth the money. This is her very first CD and it's quite a treasure. Make this your next buy!

Dreams is in my opinion the best song ever done it is insperational and gives the listeners a sense of hope for themselves. Perfect beats and the notes she shows intense emotion for the notes she hits i was very impressed.

Gabrielle has a beautiful voice along with loads of talent and I hope to hear some more releases of hers soon!

Gabrielle is a brilliant singer and I absolutly love her song 'Dreams!' She has got a great voice and none of her songs are boring. I hope she goes on writing more brilliant songs! By Catriona

I just purchased this six year old CD because I heard "Dreams" on the radio recently. Although I always liked Gabrielle's music, I had never purchased any of her CD's in the past. I had forgotten all about her. I decided to purchase this CD and WOW, the whole thing is fabulous ! I truly can't get enough of her voice. The songs are meaningful, beautifully sung, and Gabrielle's voice is so different and truly sexy. I wonder if she'll do more music in the future? I hope so.

UK soul singer Gabrielle's debut album "Find your way" is one of those rare albums that over time has become a classic. When the album was initially released most people were familiar with the singer's ubiquitous hit "dreams" and the powerful message behind it. While on first listen "dreams" could be the story of finally falling in love. The singer revealed in her greatest hits it was actually about the disappointment she felt after so many people in the music industry had promised to make her singing dreams happen only to let her down. This is just an example of the layered meaning of her songs and the inspiring messages that makes her debut album so enjoyable.

The album is short - only 10 songs. However, there is no filler on the album. Each track could have been a single and actually four of them were. Album opener "Going nowhere" is an upbeat slice of new-jill swing with a euro twist. Title track "Find your way" could have been on Janet Jackson's "Janet" album with it's Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis sounding production. "I wish" and "second chance" are sad love songs. "I wish" being a slow, dreamy track where Gabrielle laments "Oh How I wish that you were here, Oh I wish that you were near" while a shuffle beat plays gently behind the music. "Second Chance" echoes similar sentiment but this time the mood is more upbeat hip-hop with Gabrielle declaring "if you ask me back baby I'll say yes!".

"Find your way" is a solid debut and one that could easily be dismissed as simple pop/hip hop songs. It has been a favorite for nearly 20 years and still sounds fresh today. There is solid songwriting and great music to be enjoy. Recommended!

"Find your way" was released when I was finishing high school, I remember my best friend Nkosilathi love the song "Dreams". In my first year of college a good friend gave me a recorded tape of it, I was too broke to buy the original, my energy instantly gravitated to it. I really loved it to the point of memorising all the songs (by accident due to constant replay). Its a short, simple, cool R&B album with great tracks, love the title track "Find your Way", also love the beautiful "I Wish", "I wanna know" rocks, "Second Chance" has a cool sound it it, but the song that pulled my heart strings is "Because of You", it has the same feel as the incredible track "Dreams" beautiful lyrics " Baby its because of you, that I do the things I do, everytime we touch it means so much and its all because of you" I was also lucky to get the tape with the bonus track "Inside your Head". Gabrielle has a unique voice that is only hers, a style that is simple yet beautiful, I heard the track "Because of You" is Gabrielles' moms favorite which is cool. Since then I've always paid attention to her work, another amazing album of hers is "Rise". But this album will always be my favourite from her I give it 5 stars (Having problems with the how do you rate this item option). Safe to say I eventually started working and bought the CD, I still pull it out ever so often to reminisce on when times where simple. Good work Gabrielle.
