A Must Read!,
This review is from: Finding It Again: The Truth About Love After 40 (Hardcover)
An incredibly well written book that takes you through the adventures of the middle age dating world. The book will make you laugh and make you cry. It's not just a story for those who find themselves in this arena, but for anyone who has ever been in love before. However, IF you are 40 something and dating, nothing will ring more true than pages of this book.

If at first you don't succeed , try, try again...and he does!,
This review is from: Finding It Again: The Truth About Love After 40 (Hardcover)
If you're dating, have dated, have a friend in need of help and advice, and looking for love again after 40, 50, 60... This is the book for you! You're bound to relate, laugh, cry, as it happens to him, all the events, highs and lows, emotionally and physically, that shape his quest... trying to find it again, trying to find love again. Here's one passage that really struck home for me.
"Love doesn't come along very often, and when it does it must be cultivated and nurtured. There's no such thing as a love potion. There's no recipe that assures the flowering of infatuation merely by combining certain predetermined ingredients. Love-and why it happens-is a mystery. When it happens, though, love, itself, becomes a potion. It's rare and intoxicating mixture of desire and affection, compassion and need, empathy and openness. It's addicting. A tiny taste of love never satisfies, it only increases the appetite for more. Love inspires and motivates. It soothes and heals. It generates comfort and strength, it can sow the seeds of life itself. It's very, very powerful."

This was a great look at someown who was in a longterm marriage and finds himself dating for the first time as an adult. It was a very accurate, funny and revealing look at middle age dating that is right on the money. I truly enjoyed this book.

Anyone who has been or is in 'dating hell' will relate to this book. His recap of his wacky dates will have you laughing out loud. Enjoyed reading a male's point of view. Nice to know you aren't the only one having a hard time in the dating world.

Encouraging people simply not to give up on that search, no matter how hopeless it may seem.,

Love isn't easy to find - it can be viewed as even harder once you're past the big four-zero. "Finding It Again: The Truth about Love After 40" is a journal of advice for the middle aged who have suddenly found themselves available after perhaps decades of marriage. True stories of your everyday man looking for love, dealing with blind dates, internet dating, or other avenues of testing the waters of love, author Kenn Shapiro tells story that many should easily relate to and have experienced themselves, while encouraging people simply not to give up on that search, no matter how hopeless it may seem. General readers in Shapiro's shoes and self-help shelves everywhere should pick up "Finding It Again: The Truth about Love After 40".

I have found it again and again and again!,

Reading this book again and then again always brings a smile to my face and continual outbursts of laughter. So much so that I have had people come over to me and ask me "What are you reading?" I bought an additional two copies of the book just to share with friends. I have several, no not several, but many, many friends who have "Been there, done that" with the on-line dating scene. We all can relate and even if you can't you will enjoy the humor and the philosophical references to love and being in love or trying to find love yet again. This is good stuff for either a reality TV show or movie. Instead of waiting for the video to come out I'd even pay $9 to see it in a movie theater.

Being a 47 year old single Mom who lost her spouse to a tragic accident 7 years ago, I thought I would give this book a shot, not knowing exactly what it was about, it was one of the suggestion/recommendations on my Kindle list. Wow, this was one of those books I couldn't put down, it made me LOL, cry silently, and reflect on my adventures in the dating world. This book is so true and his explanation of love not being dead, but ending it's life cycle makes so much sense. I have been there so many times where the love is so alive, and then "poof", slowly but surely it flees, and it's not because two people aren't trying, but now I know it's because it has run it's cycle.
I will forever look at dating in a whole new light, I will no longer see myself as a failure when it ends, or kick myself thinking I should have stuck it out hoping it would change, when I knew in my heart it wouldn't. The hardest part is realizing it's over and moving on, it's easy to stay in a "loveless" relationship, but very hard to admit it's over and move on, so this book has really enlightened me and empowered me! Love, Love, Love it! |
