From Library Journal
Since Suzanne Gordon's Off Balance ( LJ 4/1/83) spotlighted ballet's harsher aspects, dance literature has increasingly stressed methods that enable dancers to take control of their lives and prolong their careers. Targeting an audience of dancers and teachers in all techniques, Berardi surveys the latest thinking on body conditioning, nutrition, and injury prevention and treatment. She attempts to inspire dancers to pursue their art through their 30s and beyond by sprinkling the text with reminiscences of professional dancers over age 30. Berardi provides more comprehensive treatment than Andrea Watkins and Priscilla M. Clarkson do in Dancing Longer, Dancing Stronger ( LJ 10/1/90), and her bibliography alone is invaluable. Highly recommended for dance collections supporting college and professional dance programs.
