Overall this book is quite helpful in explaining the foreclosure process, with tips on how to find foreclosures and how to be prepared in order to act quickly when pursuing foreclosure property. There's a helpful glossary of terms, great links to useful sites, and a balanced look at the upside and possible downsides of this type of investing.

What's lacking, in my opinion, is a clear explanation of the economics of buying foreclosures. In this regard, I feel like the book is a little too inside, even for this licensed real estate agent. The authors seem to assume that everyone understands the basics of aggressively leveraging equity in order to invest. One chapter about this would make all the difference.

My biggest gripe is the poor editing. The book is riddled with typos and sometimes poor composition. It feels very much like a first draft, and this fact, for me, eroded a little bit from the authors' sizable credibility. Lack of attention to detail makes it feel like the authors are only out to make a quick buck.

If you're interested in finding and investing in foreclosure properties, this book is a great primer. Just be prepared to do your homework, learn from your mistakes, and ask lots of questions. Also, be sure you have a good understanding of actual financing and risk. It's still a good buy.

After reading the book, I came away with a little bit better understanding of the foreclosure process but it did little for me in practical application. They have a big push at the end of the book for the website RealtyTrac.com which they claim is the best on the web yet they say they have no vested interest in this site. Being skeptical by nature I did a review of the RealtyTrac.com website and found most everyone was moderately to severly displeased with the site. Here is one link which actually seems to think the site has illegal implications. http://www.oregonherald.com/n/special-eports/real_estate/realtytrac.htm This does not give me great confidence in these authors if their highly recommended website for finding foreclosures is so disliked. Do your own search on Realtytrac and see. I admit I never subscribed to the site because of was afraid of wasting my money.

Book was very informative on current housing market in Southern California and all over the United States. Enjoyable to read, book was set up as reference guide, data was easy to refer to. Finding Foreclosures is a wealth of knowledge that will educate and enable you to take advantage of real estate investments. Before you start your search, I highly recommend reading Finding Foreclosures: An Insiders Guide to Cashing in on This Hidden Market.

If you want to find out how foreclosures REALLY work, then this is the book you should have. There are plenty of resources out there, but this is the most comprehensive and straight forward. If you are a novice, then I would certainly recommend that you don't take a single step prior to reading this book. If you are a seasoned investor, then this book can still show you what you may have been doing wrong.

Authors Babb and Nazur obviously have insider knowledge to the foreclosure market. If you're serious about investing and making real money, then spend the time to read this book.

The authors do a generally good job of getting you thinking about the potential of investing in this growing and potentially lucrative market. However, this book is "lite" on content and does a poor job of explaining the some of processes. The author(s) personal examples are interesting and keep you somewhat interested in his/her trials and tribulations. Nonetheless, any of the information contained in this book can be easily obtained for free if you do a "basic" search on the internet - Google,Yahoo,Ask.com. Overall, this book is fair, with a few interesting anecdotes, but not much help other than to let me know I need to buy a more detailed book.
BTW: Do not believe online ratings of a book, unless there are more than a few reviews...anyone can have a friend or family member write a review.

Finding Foreclosures, written by "insiders" Babb and Nazur, is a must if you're interested in making money in the current market of foreclosures. I knew very little about foreclosures before I picked up this book but now feel well informed about the foreclosure process, how to find properties while in the pre-foreclosure stage, negotiate the deal, and use the Internet to my advantage. The book is easy to read with helpful boxes, "Finding the Facts" and "Authors Notes," to provide examples and zero in on useful information. Get in the know and buy this book today!

To make the story short: thanks to this book we bought a foreclosure property. It was packed with a lot of practical info, especially valuable for a complete layman to the US real estate market. Thanks to "Finding Foreclosures", we could ask the right questions to the realtor, we made sure we had all the info needed, etc.

This is not a complete guide, but a good thing to start with.

A good reference material, this book is a must-have for new investors trying to learn about this hidden market or seasoned investors trying to keep up with the changing trends.

Concise and straight to the point, this book puts my other reference materials to shame.

Thank you very much for the opportunity of an advanced viewing, I will be encouraging everyone I know (whether in RE or not) to pick up a copy as soon as possible. It will easily serve as a regular reference by the seasoned veteran as well as must have foundation of knowledge for anyone just getting into Real Estate.

Like Commissions at Risk, Finding Foreclosures is chock-full of useful information and priceless tips and `secrets'. I can't wait to put all of this insider knowledge into everyday practice.
