More About the Author

I graduated with a B.A. from Columbia International University in Biblical Education, and two Masters Degrees from the University of South Carolina in Elementary Education and Elementary Counseling. With 28 years of experience in public education as a teacher, counselor, and adjunct professor, I currently serve as the counselor at Orchard Park Elementary School. I was privileged to serve as a trustee of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention and have held leadership roles in many Baptist churches. I have done mission work in Gaza, Yemen, the Czech Republic, Romania, and China. I have a passion for missions and for teaching God's word, and speaking and singing about what He has done in my life and family.

After my visit to Romania in 2007, I decided to keep the ministry Laity Alive and Serving that my parents, Harry and Betty Dent, started in 1985 open. My husband, Dr. Alton Brant, is an associate professor of American Sign Language and Deaf Studies at Clemson University. We have one married son, Joshua (and precious daughter-in-law Sydney) and twin sons, Jonathan and Harrison.

I have contributed writings for The Chosen Path: 365 Inspirational Messages, Love is a Flame, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Shaping the New You, and online with Christian Devotions. I also occasionally write articles for The Baptist Courier in South Carolina.

Are you politics watcher but burned by the political climate of our nation? Tired of hearing what's about the corruption, the misinformation, the backbiting and turmoil from all the political talking heads on cable?

Then it might be time for you to be inspired by reading Ginny Dent Brant's Finding True Freedom: From the White House to the World. This is a memoir unlike most you will read. It details the political and spiritual journey of Harry Dent and is told through the eyes of his daughter, Ginny Dent Brant.

Finding True Freedom is an intriguing view of a heart breaking time in our political history through the eyes of Ginny Dent Brant, daughter of Harry Dent, game changing political strategist.

Ginny Dent Brant walks the reader through Watergate years from the unique perspective of being the daughter of Harry Dent, accredited for propelling the southern states into a substantial power during the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

In the whirl of a political nightmare and holding such a key role in the Nixon administration, Harry Dent realized the truth in Romans 2:4 - "....that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance" when he found himself one of the few in the Nixon administration that was not charged with wrong doing.

Harry Dent surrendered his life to God after several conversations with his daughter and several miraculous events in his life.

God does wondrous things in ways even the wisest of men and women would not predict. Such is the case in the life of Harry Dent. After surrendering his life to the Lover of his soul, he founded Laity Alive, a ministry dedicated to training pastors in Romania.

This memoir is the story of one man's journey to faith and is written from a loving daughter's perspective.

The account of the author's life in Washington, her father's service in the White House ministry, priorities, passions and God at work in life and government was beautiful, overwhelming, encouraging and insightful. I am thankful Ginny wrote this story. I see the Watergate story more clearly now. I did not know anything about Mr. Dent before reading this book, but I now have a deep respect for his integrity and influence in the lives of so many through his service in government and ministry. It was an amazing story to wrap my mind around. I recommend the book to others without reservations.

Ginny Brant had a prime view of the life of her father as he worked with four presidents and a US Senator. Harry Dent could have been implicated in Watergate, but he was not found guilty of anything because he had been excluded from the illegal activities because he was "too much of a Boy Scout"...what a gift for a hard nosed, tough player in the Nixon White House. Harry had given his daughter a hard time over her faith issues and the chain of events in Washington sent him reeling headlong into a relationship with his new-found Savior, Jesus, and a change of career. His final years were spent working with an orphanage and evangelism in Romania. Ginny continues his work now that Harry is deceased. The father-daughter relationship of these two is wonderful to observe.

This book was informative, personal and inspiring. Ginny Dent Brant takes you through the life of her and her family from their highs and lows. She shares the ins and outs of the political world and how God changed their lives when they allowed Him to be in control. The father/daughter relationship shows the importance of family and is inspiring as they both find the importance in Faith and Freedom in our Country. Her theme of "Never giving up Hope" is moving throughout the entire book.

As a baby boomer who lived through the Watergate scandal, I thought I knew pretty much all there was to know: who the bad guys were; what they were doing and why. But when you view it through Ginny's eyes as a teenager who lived it out, the news accounts of that day just do not tell the whole story. Especially the heart wrenching ordeal of a man (her father-Harry Dent) being found "guilty by association." But I also enjoyed reading about a special father/daughter relationship that deepened over the course of their lives. It is a wonderful story of a man of true character who was able to stay true to his convictions even within the corruption of Washington politics at it's highest level. One can not help but see the hand of God on this man and his family. It is a footnote to Watergate that everyone should know about.

As I contemplate the love I have for my heavenly father and my earthly father I totally relate to Finding True Freedom. Hearing the path that Ginny took in praying for her father's life and eternal salvation painted a sweet picture of the special bond fathers and daughters share. Her faith and perserverance although overwhelmingly difficult at times proved to be a miraculous answer to Ginny's prayers. The depth of history presented are educational and thought provoking. The end result of God's work through Ginny and her father are amazing. To God be the Glory! An entertaining and inspiring read!!!
