Book Description

Fifteen-year-old Dylan Beachley's family is shattered when his older sister Hannah is kidnapped from their rural New Hampshire home while he slept just one floor away. Weeks of searching by volunteers and local law enforcement provides no clues to Hannah's whereabouts. Determined to find her after the official search is suspended, Dylan sets out using his extensive knowledge of the forest to search for his sister. He is joined by Molly, an energetic fifteen-year-old who just moved to the area with her drug addict mother and her mother's drug dealing boyfriend. As Dylan and Molly search hundreds of acres surrounding the Appalachian Trail, they must deal with the rugged wilderness, Dylan's grief stricken family, and Molly's abusive home life as the two refuse to give up their goal -- Finding Hannah.

Finding Hannah is a Young Adult novel approximately 55,000 words in length.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW! October 30, 2012
By Val
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I usually don't write book reviews but I'm starting to if they are exceptionally good. This book...WOW! I read it in 2 days and was enthralled, which says a lot because I have 4 young kids and a husband! Lots of surprises and interesting insights throughout the book. I found myself actually looking forward to when my baby woke at night because it was an excuse to read more! It was a clean book with hardly any swearing and no sex scenes so young adults can read it. I will look for more books from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super First Novel! June 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
John Kess has taken a subject that is unfortunately too familiar to us all, and handled it with gentleness, wisdom, and compassion. He allowed us a glimpse into the lives of a family torn apart by kidnapping and the internal struggles of family members and friends as they embark on a search with an uncertain outcome. Mr. Kess shows much promise as a young author, and I look forward to his next novel

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me up all night! November 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a nightly reader and usually read until I can't keep my eyes open any more. It usually only take me 30-45 minutes before the book falls onto my nose, but this book kept me up till 3 am. The characters are relatable, the plot quick moving, and I just couldn't put it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok February 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Interesting story line, but the writing was rather simplistic. Character personalities seemed almost too "good" to be true.
Had to read to the end, though, and enjoyed the characters' perseverance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating read from beginning to end! October 27, 2012
By pmozz
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Finding Hannah is an engaging and touching story from beginning to end. I started reading one morning and could not put it down until I finished. I know it is written for young adults, and I am way beyond that age,yet I found it to be one of the best reads in a long time. Well written with complex and completely believable characters. I look forward to reading more novels by John Kess.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Plot, Only Marginal Writing February 7, 2013
By Khood3
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was an interesting enough read, but the writing was a little lax at times. Through most of it it's written like a high school age boy might talk, which is a little frustrating for anyone with a more advanced vocabulary. I'd say it's a good read for the 15 & under crowd.

This was a pretty good story but some of it was highly unlikely to have ever happened in real life.
