Book Description

November 1, 2007 Finding Lost

The second installment in the critically acclaimed, best selling Finding Lost series

"Stafford brings the symbolism, themes, and mythology to the forefront, so that casual viewers and devoted fans have a better understanding of what is happening in each episode." —About.com

The castaways on Lost spent two seasons trying to find rescue, dealing with the traumas of their past, and being baffled by the presence of polar bears on their deserted island. In season 3, they are focused on a bigger problem: the Others. With the mysteries of the island deepening and the puzzle becoming more convoluted, this book will help you put those pieces together to figure out where the series is going. The only Lost guide available that analyzes the show episode by episode, Finding Lost includes:

• An in-depth look at every episode, with highlights, music, and nitpicks outlined at the end of each one

• Chapters on the influential television series The Prisoner, Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time (a favorite book of the Others), Eko's Jesus stick, the real David Hume, and the online game The Lost Experience

• Sidebars chronicling fun trivia such as why Canadian references imply the presence of evil; what Kate's aliases really mean; comparisons of the Others' wicked deeds to those of the Losties; and many more

• Bios of the new actors on the show

• Analyses of the show's literary references, including A Tale of Two Cities, Of Mice and Men, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and Through the Looking Glass

• Photos of the filming locations in Hawaii

Full of exclusive photos and enough background to put you leagues ahead of other viewers, this book will finally help you "find" Lost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nikki Stafford has done it again..., October 21, 2007
This review is from: Finding Lost - Season Three: The Unofficial Guide (Paperback)
About two years ago, I picked up "Finding Lost" by Nikki Stafford. I expected it to be a simple episode guide to the first two season of Lost, and wanted to refresh my memory before the third season started.
Boy, was I wrong.
Not only was the book a guide, but it also was an insightful look into what everything meant and offered many interpretations about the show. And I loved every page of it.
Now, here I am again, holding Season Three's book in my hands. I am happy to say that Nikki Stafford has done it again. Her views and insights on each episode paint a clearer picture of what the characters, writers, and producers may have been thinking. Each section is not a 'recap,' because like the book says, nothing would ever be able to substitute for the show. However, it does provide a background and overall review of the episode, and offers the reader many different opinions about what actually happened.
Following each section are several informative sub-sections. Each one explores other areas of the episode, such as where the mysterious 'numbers' occur, interesting facts, blink-and-you-miss moments, foreign language translations, production mistakes, and much, much more.
All in all, Nikki Stafford knows her stuff. Not only that, but she knows how to write, too. A most excellent read for ANY Lost fan, from the most hardcore to the casual viewer. I highly recommend this book.
