I'll admit it, I'm a fan. But I became a fan because this series of books is so good! After watching the series on my own, and trying to find answers to my questions on-line I discovered Nikki's blog, [...] and her enlightening books. They have thoroughly enriched my experience of an already great television series.

The books are organized as follows: first she has thoughts on the episode itself, and how it relates to what we already know about the story and characters from previous episodes. Then she breaks out into several sections:

- Highlights (the funniest or most poignant moment),
- Did you notice? (possibly important clues to the story that you may want to remember),
- Interesting facts (things not necessarily in the show but related, like cultural references),
- Nitpicks (stuff that may not sit right or make complete sense at the moment),
- Oops (clear mistakes, usually in continuity),
- 4 8 15 16 23 42 (where the numbers appear or are relevant, surprisingly often!),
- It's just a flesh wound (who got physically hurt and how),
- Lost in Translation (anything in a different language not translated as part of the episode)
- Any Questions? (possibly the most important section, all the open questions from this episode - sometimes answered in later episodes, and sometimes left as a Lost mystery!)
- Ashes to Ashes (deaths)
- Music/Bands (Music on the show, which is usually very good)

IN between episode analyses, Nikki gives us background on the books that pop up in the show, and what their relevance is to the story.

*Bonus* Open questions we HOPE get resolved in Season 6.

And it is all written in a fun and accessible style.

Because of the level of detail and discussion, you can't stay "lost" for very long. Have a Lost fan in your life? This series of books make a great complementary gift to the DVD's, at least they did for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best series on TV - and the best series of books on LOST is right here, October 15, 2009

This review is from: Finding Lost - Season Five: The Unofficial Guide (Paperback)
The arrival of the latest installment in Nikki Stafford's Season Guides to LOST is met with a resounding cheer by her gi-normous (and growing) fan base. Whether one is seeking to get caught up on the ground-breaking series' most recent episodes or stoking a passion for deeper understanding of the show's mythology, Nikki's clear and concise analysis offers fresh perspective on the narrative and enlightened commentary on the characters that fans have made their own for five seasons and counting. If you are already a devotee of Nikki's books, you share my envy of those who may be discovering her work for the first time. Take this book to the checkout and then call your family and friends; you'll be blissfully unavailable until you've finished it - and quite possibly read it again to make sure you haven't missed anything!

I can't imagine catching up before a new season of Lost without Nikki Stafford's 'Finding Lost' series. Perfect blend of recap, insight, happy frustration, hilarity, biography, book review, and adoration of all things Desmond, this book has earned it's spot on my shelves next to my Lost DVDs.

If you like Lost, you'll love Nikki's books. They're well organized, well written, and thought provoking. Lost is the perfect series for a book of this nature, if it's written by the right person; Nikki is just such.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for every LOST fan..., November 10, 2009

I read quite a few books about LOST before I found Nikki's. They all paled in comparison. These books are so much more than season guides. They offer new insights, intelligent theorizing, and are a blast to read. I especially love the unanswered questions section for each episode.

I like to read a particular episode's entry, then rewatch the episode. If you're new to LOST, I recommend watching the episode first, then reading the entry. Not because Nikki gives anything away (she doesn't), but after you read her entry, you'll be able to rewatch the episode in a whole new light. Plus, I guarantee you'll miss stuff she catches!

It's also really great that Nikki reads *every single book* referenced on LOST. This is an enormous undertaking! And I'm soooo happy she read and summarized "Ulysses" by James Joyce, because now I don't have to read it! :)

Stop reading this review and put this book in your shopping cart NOW. No regrets!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Twice the Price!, December 12, 2009
This review is from: Finding Lost - Season Five: The Unofficial Guide (Paperback)
The perfect companion to a near-perfect show. Nikki's take on the series is fresh, thought-provoking, informative and often humorous. I look forward to reading each episode's companion chapter as much or more than watching the show itself! I've read a lot of books on LOST, and this one stands head and shoulders - nay, MILES - above the rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Lost is much more then an episode guide..., November 11, 2009
This review is from: Finding Lost - Season Five: The Unofficial Guide (Paperback)
If there is one question I have to ask you right at this moment, it is why are you reading this review and NOT reading this book already?

For the last few years, Nikki Stafford has been pain stakingly researching and watching and re-watching every episode of Lost to create these books. She never misses a detail and goes more in depth then any other book on Lost I have ever read. Her "Did you notice?" segments help point out things that casual viewers (and sometimes even hardcore Lost fans!) didn't see the first time around. The interesting facts she includes relate the show to pop culture and other things in life. She even includes handy guides for who gets hurt, when the numbers pop up, and what music is in each episode. You can't go wrong!

Nikki is THE source for Lost information. She goes above and beyond making this book a episode guide, including in depth discussions about books that appear in the show and their overall signifigance.

If you're into Lost, this is the book for you. Get it. Read it. Now. What are you waiting for?

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Finding Lost!, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Finding Lost - Season Five: The Unofficial Guide (Paperback)
I own all of the Finding Lost books. They have helped me rediscover a series that I was already in love with. The books are structured so that you don't necessarily have to rewatch episodes but it certainly enhances the experience. My favorite part of the books is the exploration of non-fiction aspects of the show. There is an analysis of the real John Locke and how his ideas fit into the show.

If you are a fan, or know a fan, buy these books!

I also love Nikki Stafford as an author from way back in the day when she wrote about Buffy the Vampire Slayer (as in Bite Me!) Her blog is phenomenal when it comes to anything cult-like or sci-fi/fantasy. Check out all of her books!

This is the Grail for Lost fans. The Finding Lost books are fun and informative, and no Lost fan should be without them. Helps to explain mysteries, and point out things you probably missed. Can't say enough about them. (I'm now reading the Season 6 volume.)
