First off...I don't read books that often (well, finish them) and I finished Victorya's book in 3 days! (That's fast for me.) Victorya takes her secrets to a new level. I already had my "list" of what I looked for in a husband, but with her guidance was able to finely tune it. I think we women can sometimes struggle in keeping our boundaries these days and she not only encourages us to set firm boundaries, but gives us advice on how to keep those boundaries up! We all have an idea of what our future husband will be like. Victorya's technique helps to make that image more concrete for not just us, but for our "cheerleaders" as well. I'm the type that doesn't like to ask for help, but Victorya has shown me that getting people involved in my relationships (a no-no in the past for me) will help me keep my focus and keep me from being heartbroken by a man not worth keeping. Her book not only gives enlightenment and encouragement, it gets the reader to look more deeply into their own past, present, and future relationships (through journaling) as a means of healing, self-evaluation and preparation for finding their "man worth keeping." I highly recommend this book to any single woman who finds herself in her own "search" right now. I even got a copy for my single mom!

I was waiting in line at the bookstore when I saw this book, and I picked up the book to thumb through and hope that it was something that would help single women such as myself, and speak to the journey we are on, both with God, and in finding the love of a spouse. Sadly that is not what I found. I bought the book out of shear horror, to take home and prove to my friends that I wasn't lying, and we are all appalled. Not only is this book is full of name dropping, and self-agrandizing stories, but it gives BAD advice to the Christian Single Woman. What appears to be 'sound' and 'straight-forward' advice is really just teaching women to buy into the lie that they have to act, look (even if that means getting surgery), and sound a certain way for a man to like them. It teaches them to create a package deal that would snare the perfect man. WHAT NONSENSE! Where is the book that says: The woman worth keeping is the one who follows Jesus with her whole heart and life, and one who is totally real, and doesn't project a glossy image, or obsess about finding the perfect man, and who cares if she's overweight or has a big nose, HER CHARACTER is where her beauty lies? I wish that this was that book. But it is not.

As I have only read the first few chapters, I feel I almost don't have a right to post this. But I am already hooked and I had to share!

If for nothing else, all women in the "quest" for a man worth keeping should read this book for the exercises presented in the first few chapters. She brings clarity, humor, truth, and direction to mapping out what you really want in a man, and what you have had in the past. It was humorous, in the saddest of ways, to read my "want ad" from exercise one, based on the negative character flaws from my previous relationships. As women we should not lower our standards, and she gives us hope for truly finding a man whom we can be equally yoked with. I can't wait to finish it!

This book, after all, did not disappoint. I thouroughly enjoyed it and found it most useful. And, just as a side note, afterwards, found a man worth keeping. We are planning on getting married in about 6 months and he is everything I could have hoped for and more. At 28 (really 26), I had nearly given up on finding a man. Now only shortly after my 29th birthday, with God's blessing, I will be married! Thanks Victorya for your great exercises and insights!

It's great to see such biblically-driven, yet real-world, advice on dating coming from one our very own members here at Fellowship Church. Victorya Michaels Rogers has given single women an invaluable gift within the pages of this insightful book -- it is the gift of finding yourself on the journey to Finding a Man Worth Keeping.

I enjoyed it so much. The advice has been helpful to life in general as well as dating. It has been passed around my friends and they have all thoroughly enjoyed it and I think found it extremely useful as well. I learned so much and appreciate how much God can be a part of the whole process.

My take on dating? Don't even think about heading out without a good "field guide." This is the one you'll want. This author walks her readers through excellent dating dos and don'ts--answers to the questions I'm always asking of my girlfriends or guy buddies. Huge for me was her focus on honing listening skills--a weakness of mine. This has made a noticable difference for me already!! I LOVE that the author exposes her own actual dating scenarios and foibles--a mix of funny and sad that we can all identify with. "Finding a Man" is much about knowing yourself. Loved the advice on journaling--the chapter titled "Turn your life Inside Out" was excellent!! Would highly recommend.
