5.0 out of 5 stars Ride of your life
Get ready for the ride of your life when you read Finding Marie by Susan Page Davis. 1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I picked up the book, Finding Marie, by Susan Page Davis, with interest as I do like Christian suspense books. The beginning of the book was interesting and onward we go with an adventure. The drama came forward right away. Yet, as I read this book, I continually had one question. Why did Marie keep running and not seek out authories, the police and certainly the FBI...

4.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful and intriguing!, December 29, 2007
My wife was given this book for Christmas, but I nabbed it and finished it in just over 24 hours. I had a hard time putting it down, even with the romance aspect to the plot! I enjoyed the jet-setting, fast-paced plot that kept moving and weaved Marie's new found faith into her adventures. I haven't yet read Frasier Island, but am now hooked and plan to get to it soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging!, December 26, 2007
Susan Page Davis has crafted another engrossing espionage novel filled with intrigue, faith and love. Pierre and Marie Belanger return from the first book in this series, Frasier Island together with George and Rachel Hudson. It is however, Pierre's brother, Andre and Marie's sister, Lisa who provide the romantic spark in this novel. While their life long angst with each other was over a little too quickly, their relationship is both fun and appealing. The dramatic tension Marie feels as she tries to outrun her assailants is excellent and Pierre's despair palpable. Finding Marie is a wonderful addition to any romantic suspense devotee's bookshelf.

I am delighted Harvest House has contracted a third novel in the exciting series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Riveting suspense with non-stop action..., October 15, 2007
Think The Bourne Identity meets Blink by Ted Dekker and you'll get the same kind of riveting suspense. But in Finding Marie the pursuers are not the USA, nor Arabs from the Middle East, but communists from China. This tale of international intrigue had me on the edge of my seat. Marie's pursuers never gave her a rest. She had to outrun them and in the process had many close calls.

At one point more criminals join the chase and she has people coming at her from all sides. The violence picks up and Marie is terrified, but crafty as she is, she manages to evade them. I enjoyed this story and love the author's pacing and writing style. There is even an engaging romantic subplot among secondary characters that keeps the story moving along.

Much like in Frasier Island, the previous novel by the same author, Finding Marie is non-stop action. If you love heart pounding suspense, you'll want to read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fast paced, buckle your seat belt, wild ride...., September 22, 2007

Love 2 Read Novels "Sherry" (a small town in Kansas USA) - See all my reviews
If you have read Frasier Island then you can't miss this story. In this tale, Pierre and Marie are married and living in Tokyo. Pierre is due for a 30 day leave but decides to send Marie ahead by a couple weeks. He puts her on the plane and she sits next to the wife of one of them men Pierre works with. When they get to San Francisco she sees the woman she sat next to on the plane murdered. She runs with her bag and finds that she has several cruel looking men looking for her. When she trys to find her cell phone she finds that it was stolen and instead she finds a flash drive. Not knowing much about computers, she's not sure if it's important but she figures that must be why they killed the woman she sat next to.

She manages to board her next flight and on that plane she meets a woman who happens to sell casual wear items. Marie buys a few items to use as a disguise. When she deplanes she sees the men who were following her in San Francisco. She leaves the airport then and the chase is on. She is able to call her husband a few times but the bad guys always seem to be close at hand.

Pierre is sent home by his boss and enlists the help of his best friend George Hudson to find Marie. They always seem to be one step behind the bad guys who are one step behind Marie.

This is a fast paced story where something is always happening right up to the nail-bitting ending. As a sideline there is a romance that blooms between Pierre's brother, Andre and Marie's sister, Lisa. It's also nice to see into George and Rachel's lives once more.

Highly recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great book, March 4, 2008
I had never read any books by Susan Paige Davis, so I was a little uncertain of her style of writing. This book sounded interesting to me, though, so I decided to try it. I was not disappointed. It was an awesome book!! The plot was great, and I couldn't put it down. I definitely recommend it!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The non-stop action keeps you going!, January 21, 2008

Finding Marie is reminiscent of Dee Henderson's True Heroes series. It continues with the story of Pierre from Frasier Island and his new wife, Marie. Pierre is stationed in Japan but will soon be going on leave, so he sends Marie on before him to return to their home in Maine. Marie lands safely in San Francisco but there she witnesses a murder and is unwillingly and unknowingly drawn into an international crisis. She gets chased from the airport and is on the run from some mysterious Chinese men. She begins a wild race across the United States in hopes of reaching home and Pierre to escape the men following her. It's a wild ride of a story. The action is pretty much non-stop and Marie shows herself to be quick-thinking and decisive in working to out-maneuver her pursuers (who manage to have an inside look into her whereabouts, as they appear right before the police or Pierre is able to rescue her).

Like Ms. Henderson's True Valor series, the action is fast-paced and the characters are real and endearing. There is a sweet romantic sub-plot between two secondary characters- maybe the central characters for the next installment? A much more intense and riveting plot helps to drive you along, making this a more interesting read than Frasier Island. (I wish Pierre had more of a part because he was always the entertaining character in Frasier Island with the quick quips and silly antics.) George and Rachel have brief `cameos' but nothing really significant. George helps Pierre in the rescue attempts but it would have been fun to have a reunion between both couples. Especially to see how Rachel and Marie would interact since I don't think they've ever met.

I read this in pretty much one sitting- it kept me up well into the night, because there really is no good place to stop once the actions gets going. There is at times too much exposition that slows down the pace a little- I found myself skimming to get ahead to the real action... But I still am looking forward to more from this author and am hoping that the next will be even more exciting! Fans of Dee Henderson will enjoy this series (especially since she hasn't written anything new in awhile...)

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent suspense, January 1, 2008
Book two in the Frasier Island Series. Marie and Pierre Belanger have been stationed in Japan. Now, Marie is on her way home to visit her family in Maine. She's traveling with Jenna Tarrington, wife of Commander Tarrington. Although they've never been friends, they are thrown together on the trip. Two men seem to be following them, and appear to be threatening in some way. Then Jenna is murdered in an airport restroom and Marie finds a flash drive she's never seen before in her luggage. Soon she's on the run, trying to stay alive.
Susan Page Davis drops the reader right into the story, and Finding Marie is a first rate tale filled with heart-stopping suspense, well developed characters, and a tight plot. A great follow up to book one in this series. I'm looking forward to book three.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable, November 10, 2007
This author was new to me. The book started and took right off. About 2/3 into the book i thought "lets get on with it" it seemed that the story line became repetative. Every time they got close to finding Marie they missed locating her by just a short time or by a few miles. It was obvious that the bad guys were going to get her at some point, it just took forever before the plot moved on and had a good finish.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Finding Marie is the second book in the Frasier Island series. This book is action packed. All Marie wants to do is get home. As soon as her flight from Japan to San Francisco lands, her world gets turned upside down. She doesn't know who to trust or where to turn. She has witnessed a murder and now is on the run. Join Marie as this 22 year old who has always depended on her father and then her husband learns to trust her Father in Heaven. She turns to Him to guide and direct her to know who to trust and how to get home. The author did a great job with this book and I would highly recommend it.
