A wonderful new book great for all ages! Finding my smile is more than a story; it contains fantastic characters that you will truly find yourself in love with by the end of the book! Although the story is written at the teen/young adult level, the story is suitable for all ages and would even make a great book to read to your kids! Again, simply a wonderful novel!

Is Alzheimer's making an impact on your family? If so, this is a must-read for you and everyone you love. Tying an intergenerational relationship together with Alzheimer's and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, this book presents a unique and beautifully woven story of love, forgiveness, and grace.

When I first learned of this book, I wasn't sure I wanted to read it. How could a book about fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) and Alzheimer's be anything other than depressing? What's more, I was dealing with family members with other unrelated disorders -- I didn't feel emotionally strong enough to face two additional disorders that I had not encountered in my life, and I didn't want to read something that would leave me more depressed. Then, there was the fact that this book is written mainly for teenagers. I'm long past being a teenager. In fact, I'm the mother of two teenaged girls, and I wasn't sure that I wanted to revisit high school-- even as an observer.

Once I read the Prologue, however, my doubts about the book were gone. I immediately liked Alayna. For a child who was dealt such a lousy hand, she was marvelously insightful. And, she promised me a happy ending. More importantly, her story is one that applies to more than just FAS and Alzheimer's. This story explores questions such as why do bad things happen to good people? Why doesn't God step in to prevent suffering? These are universal questions that many people -- teenager or not -- ask. The answers provided are satisfying, and the author backs up these assertions with citations from the bible. She shows us how the bible speaks to us in modern times.

Rather than depressing, I found this book to be uplifting. I will be passing it on to my daughters, and I recommend it to everyone who has questions about God and the role he plays in our lives.

The story of self discovery through the loving hand of God was touching and inspiring. I cried my eyes out at the end! It was written in such a way that the characters and their struggles became real. The book shared God in a deep and meaningful way, yet was approachable and understandable for anyone.

When I first got this book, I wasn't sure what the storyline would include. However, I was hooked in the first chapter. The characters and the information on Alzheimer's and fetal alcohol syndrome are so detailed that I felt like I was right there in the story with them. I really liked the real-life experiences in the story. I forgot it was fiction! I could not put this one down! Don't miss it and make sure to share this book with anyone you know who is struggling with Alzheimer's in their family. It's so encouraging.
