How do you make a shark, long reputed to be nothing but a brainless marauder of the ocean, into an interesting character for a movie? By plaguing him with self-doubt and forcing him to re-evaluate the fundamental tenets of his species. Here's Bruce, fresh from his silver screen debut as an animated character in the charmingly off-kilter Pixar film Finding Nemo. When squeezed, he's able to say a number of phrases, including a cheery "G'day mate!", "I'm hungry!", and his desperate mantra of re-invention, "I'm not an eating machine!" Whenever Bruce talks, his tail flips up and down and makes noises. We enjoyed the numerous lines that Bruce gets to say, especially since most talking toys only get a couple of lines that they then repeat ad nauseam. We also appreciated Bruce's name, a sly wink to the nickname used for the shark in Jaws. Three AA batteries are included. --Charlie Williams
