FISHTASTIC!!!,
This review is from: Finding Nemo (Video Game)
This has to be the best Pixar film game to date.It is visually superb, the characters are superbly modelled and as rich and vibrant as their film counterparts. The gameplay is a pleasing mix of puzzles, platforming, racing, you name it. The bonus games are especially fun. And there is plenty to the game to keep the youngsters amused, and the adults entertained, an absolutely excellent movie tie in, that would stand up on its own right. Something very rare nowadays. This game represents fantastic value for money and is a must have for any Pixar/fish fans.

Five Stars ONLY Because it's "Finding Nemo",
By Michelle (NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Finding Nemo (Video Game)
I am giving this game 5 stars because "Finding Nemo" is the best movie ever and I don't have the heart to rate any FN product with fewer than 5 stars out of 5, a perfect score, 'kay? But before you lukewarm Nemo fans go rush out and buy it, hear me out. This is for hardcore FN-worshipping maniacs/fanatics only. Not only that, but they MUST be over 12 years of age (unless they're extremely intelligent video game afficionados.) The PC game was almost too easy, but this game is exceedingly difficult, I must warn potential players. Now, aside from having adorable scenes, all the characters, and their original voice actors, there are things I should make you aware of. First, there's a lot of repitition in it. You finally get through one part, thinking you've done it, and they make you go through the same really hard thing twice more. The races and chases (especially with a current of water pushing you off-course) are particularly time-consuming, not because of length but because of sheer difficulty and the number of frustrating times you'll be required to attempt them. And as for those sliding tile puzzles, forget it! I spent over an hour trying to work out the one of those pipes in the submarine. Now, I am 16. I'm not exactly a great video game player, but I am having trouble with this game. There are times when you want to tear out your hair and scream, "What do you want from me?!?" because you've done every possible thing you can think of and you're still not beating the level. A few problems: The game has its strong points. The characters are funny, the animation is cool, they show you pretty pictures and the trailer. The game DOES NOT curse. Some of the levels are challenging without being absurd. It's great for teens with alot of free time on their hands. But it's NOT a little childrens' game. Much too difficult. But as fed-up with this as I may sound, it's NOT a disappointment. Rather, I feel it's a good time. *laugh* After all, it's "Finding Nemo"....it HAS to be good.

I bought this game about a year ago.I thought the game was allright. It is kind of repative and has lots of puzzles in it.There are several levels where you have to slide blocks around to form a picture.I do not like these puzzles and never have. You do basically the same thing in each level but sometimes it is switched up a bit by changing characters. My four year old daughter likes it(but can only play the first few levels)This game is not for small children but if you like puzzles and mazes then you will probably like this game. Not for everyone but not a terrible game.

My family and I LOVED the movie Finding Nemo, and I *finally* got around buying this game for my son (age 8) the other day.
Unfortunately, he has had to call me into the room *repeatedly* to help him get through some of the levels. He gets frustrated and visibly upset (surely all that adrenaline isn't good for kids?!) and it was making my heart race, too. Most of the sections (he's on Level 6) involve a race of some sort or going through 2D platforming mazes (think Crash Bandicoot). Some of the graphics are truly excellent, but not for small children. There are scenes with Bruce the shark chasing and trying to eat Nemo and Dory as you navigate them through minefields and in the sub. The music sounds pretty threatening, too. Personally, I love PS2 games aimed at kids (e.g. Ice Age 2, Curious George, the Spyro series, etc.), but this game is repetitive and aggravating. Fighting against the current for some of the games makes it difficult and frustrating...which is decidedly unfun.

Great Game!!!,

I actually haven't seen the movie yet, but this game certainly made me wanna see it bad. The fact that it came with a free movie ticket helps, too...This game is gorgeous. The animation is absolutely amazing, and it blends well with clips from the movie. Every stage is different, and you never seem to get bored (and trust me, I get bored easily with games).

Great Game For Entire Family,

This review is from: Finding Nemo (Video Game)
We recently purchased this game for out 4 year old daughter and she loves it! Sometimes it becomes a little difficult for her and she gets frustrated, but she quickly goes back to playing it again. Our 11 year old daughter loves it also, even though it is only one player, they just take turns! I even find myself sitting there and playing it with them. For a family, this is a good game. Some games for kids are just too hard, take for instance Powerpuff girls, my 4 year old will not even play it, she just becomes angry and cries! The graphics are nice, looks just like the movie...and another bonus, it comes with a free child's ticket to see Finding Nemo the movie!

So Simple It's Fun,
This review is from: Finding Nemo (Video Game)
We chanced upon this game at the local video store and began playing it while our friend looked around. When we left, we had been there for an hour and a half, all the while playing the game. The game is extremely simple, operatable and probably comprehendable by a 5- or 6-year-old. You basically use the directional pad and a little speed burst button. The premise pretty much follows the movie, and you spend most of the game traversing the ocean. The game took about 15 minutes to master, in terms of control, particularly with the change from side to front-and-back views in an annoyingly long sequence where you must chase Dory, the blue fish who helps you accomplish the title. You have to direct Nemo's father against or with the current, making sure to avoid bumping into crabs, blowfish, or other monstrous sea creatures. You can neutralize some of them by tail-whipping convenient bubbles into their direction (the bubble pretty much auto-pilots and heads straight for the "enemy" and traps them). The sound is terrific, and the graphics are very cool, not quite as graphically sound as the movie, but top-notch for a video game. This can be played without prior knowledge of or viewing of the movie, but watching "Finding Nemo" first would certainly help. Recommended for younger kids, but entertaining, for an hour or two, for the older crowd.

This game is rated E for everyone and is targeted for a younger audience. My son is eight and has great difficulty in many areas. My daughter is six and can't play it all. And because you have to go all the way back to the beginning of a level when you quit, we often leave the game paused and turn off the t.v. so we don't have to lose what progress we've made. I don't reccommend this game for younger children. Save it for the older kids.

Not for younger gamers,

My mother picked this game up for my 3 year old son for Christmas and it is just too hard for him. He is fairly good with video games such as Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, and the whole Spyro series etc. However this game is just too hard for him to master just yet. My 10 year old daughter can play it but struggles with it. Even when I play it I find myself struggling with some of the levels. The controls are a bit difficult until you get adjusted to them and even after playing it for a while I still have trouble getting through some of the rings I need to swin through. It's a challenging game and the graphics are really good but beware of the gaming level of the person you are buying it for.

This video game is rather repetitive. Most levels involve merely swimming through rings over and over. However, given this simple game play a younger child will probably find it too difficult or frustrating to play it for long. You are given plenty of chances to practice a level in the face of failure, so with some patience each level can be finished. It's too bad that the control in this game is a bit off, which is what makes completing the simple repetitive levels harder. Nemo fans will enjoy the clips from the movie that are integrated into the game. The in-game engine bits however are a bit off and disappointing since they are animated at a lesser level than the Pixar clips. |
