Review

I have sticky notes sticking out all over this book as I've tried to mark the places relevant to me. I agree with another reviewer that I could almost hear his voice as I read the words. For years I've held close to my heart, in reference to trials only being a small part of our life and to enjoy it more fully. ?I felt the Savior's love for me in a very tender and personal way as I read this book. He does want me to feel His love and have joy and peace. ?I can't wait to get this book as a gift for others who might enjoy and benefit from the sweet words of this book.

About the Author

Elder Richard G. Scott was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy in 1977 and was sustained as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve in 1988. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from George Washington Universtiy and completed postgraduate work in nuclear engineering. Elder Scott worked on the staff of Admiral Hyman Rickover (considered the father of the nuclear navy) developing military and private nuclear power reactors, and was a consultant to the nuclear power industry. He and his wife, Jeanene Watkins Scott, are the parents of seven children. Sister Scott passed away in 1995.

I am accustomed to breezing through books in one sitting, but this one was really worth savoring... and I marked what felt like a gazillion passages to both re-read and share. Extremely uplifting, and made me want more of that oft-elusive "peace, happiness, and joy"... only now I feel more armed to claim them!

I purchased this book two months ago and have already read it twice. Scott speaks with warm, conversational tones as if he were sitting in the living room with you. This book is his wisdom acquired over several decades. It is a treasure! I wish I'd had this book when I was a teen and young adult. It's like a handbook for spiritual life! I plan to give it to all my children as well as other teens.
