Beautiful Book!,
By a reader "woody3670" (Denver, Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Finding Purpose in Your Pain (Paperback)
I was so sad to see this little gem of a book only had three stars. It is a Christian faith based book to help someone heal after a tragedy. I bought my copy at church so I knew what I was getting and it offered so many lovely thoughts that I will keep with me always. If you are struggling with your faith after a tragedy this is helpful with that as well. Very tender, honest book that has some real pearls of Christian wisdom.

Religious Overtones,
By
This review is from: Finding Purpose in Your Pain (Paperback)
After reading this book, I was disappointed in the quantity of religious overtones and biblical referencing. It should have been called "Finding God's Purpose in Your Pain." If you are a faithful, religious person & have lost a loved one THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU! I did get some things out of it (I even highlighted a good story that wasn't religious) but if I had known about the overtones earlier, I wouldn't have bought the book. Around page 68-70, I about had it when the author went into a great discussion about a situation he had at a congregation that he was visiting that wouldn't allow him to participate in communion because he wasn't a member of that church (maybe he went to a catholic church & wasn't catholic?). That was the last straw for me. I wanted a book to help me with my pain not one telling me or discussing with me that I needed to seek God or that the author had problems with others who were choosing to seek God differently. This was NOT at all what I was expecting from the title of this book. Personally I was disappointed - but gave it an average rating because if you over looked every religious comment the author had his heart in the right place, it just wasn't right for me. Good luck with your hurts.
