About the Author

Lucy Francis grew up with characters living in her head, clamoring for attention. Whether those characters were elves, knights, aliens or earthlings, she listened and wrote their tales, which always included love. She still listens, plays matchmaker, and scribbles the resulting stories. Lucy has lived all over the United States, but calls Utah home. She lives with her husband, five children, and a pet menagerie that once included nine different species. She loves horses, fixing broken things, Doctor Who and tending the urban forest she planted in her front yard.

More About the Author

Hi, I'm Lucy, and I write romances. Why? Because there's nothing quite as fun and satisfying as creating two people who are perfect for each other, dropping them into each other's lives, and watching them fall in love.

I've lived all across the United States, from New York to California, but Utah, with its incredibly varied terrain and vast stretches of gorgeous wild country, is home. I live with my hero, our five children, and a pet menagerie. I love horses, fixing broken things, Doctor Who and tending the urban forest I planted in my yard.

Like Mending Fences, this book has deeply rich and believable characters, a great story, and a fine romance.

I love losing myself in mindless chick-lit, but every once in a while, I need something with substance. Something real. Lucy's books, both Mending Fences, and this new story fit the bill very nicely.

The two leads both dealt with addiction within their families, and even though the situations are different, Andri knows exactly how to help Travis see how to help himself before he loses his grip completely. Nothing is pain-free for either of them, but reading about how they overcome adversities together is what makes this book both real - and joyful.

I tore through it in one sitting, which isn't unusual for me, but in this case, it was necessary. I even shed a few tears.

I identified personally with the issues in Mending Fences, but while I had no experience with the trials in Finding Refuge, I still felt as though I could bond with the main characters.

I found myself thinking about how nice it would be to hear more from Rachel and/or Ian, and what a great treat it was to see that a story about Rachel is in the works! I can't wait to read it.

I'm almost sorry I read this so quickly - it just means I'll have to wait longer to hear more from Lucy Francis. Thank you Lucy, for gifting me this book - but I would have purchased it in any case. Well worth reading - I urge anyone who wants to read something heart-wrenching and just plain real to give both of Ms. Francis' books a go.

If you want an engaging read with believable characters, then you need to get Lucy Francis' FINDING REFUGE. Lucy tackles the difficult issue of substance abuse with just the right mix of tenderness and tough love. Add in a heart-stopping hunk and spunky gal and you've got a romance for the ages.

I loved this book.
Their first meeting, their first date, even all the emotional baggage.
You will also get hot and blush because there are a few steamy hot scenes, not too graphic.
But the crying for me was the best, I have not cried for a book in a while.
This book really had it all. Friendship, family and love.
