Book Description

June 8, 1997
Finding and living from your sacred self is a profound act that may change the world. But how do you grab onto that sacred self which is your essence? This book is about Susan Gregg's own process of stopping her inner pain and reclaiming her essential self. In her first book, "The Dance of Power", she described her apprenticeship with shamans Miguel and Sarita. In this text, she shares many of the exercises - which can be done alone or in a group - that helped her connect with her sacred self. Through exercises such as "meeting your protector", "mirror meditations" and "channelling healing energies", the reader should experience their inner knowing and should perceive the world in a whole new way.

About the Author

Dr. Susan Gregg was born and raised in New York City. She graduated in 1972 from the University of Vermont with a B/A in Mathematics. At that time she began to explore metaphysics, including transcendental meditation.

After moving to California in the 1980s, Susan met a Mexican Nagual or Shaman, and became his apprentice. When she finished her apprenticeship, the Nagul told her to go out and teach in her own manner.

In 1989 Susan received her Doctorate in Clinical Hypnotherapy. She became a Reverend in the Universal Church of the Master in Santa Clara, California. Susan now lives in Hawaii with her springer spaniel. She is in private practice assisting people in transforming their lives. She lives happily by the beach in a sleepy town, enjoying life on a daily basis.

More About the Author

I was born and raised in NYC. I've always had a fascination with the idea of freedom and how life works. I began exploring meditation and spirituality in the 70's.

My life has been quite an adventure, at times traumatic, but more recently filled with lots of magic and miracles. I had the gift of many awesome mentors along the way and feel privileged to share some of their wisdom, love, understand and joy with others through my books, teachings and podcasts.

In my wildest dreams I could never have imagined a life so rich and full. I love teaching others how to create that gift in their lives as well.

Among other books, I have written the Complete Idiot's Guide to Short Meditations (it is great!), Dance of Power, The Toltec Way and Mastering the Toltec Way. I invite you to tune into my podcast Food for The Soul.

2.0 out of 5 stars Useful for new agers, but not for serious shamanic students, May 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Finding the Sacred Self: A Shamanic Workbook (Paperback)
The only redeeming quality this book has is clearly explained rituals. But the downfall is the lack of background on WHY you should do them or why it matters. There is no philosophic system employed. I read it, but anyone with passing knowledge of shamanism will be bored on the initial flip-through.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to experience the inner power that you have always had., May 2, 1999
This review is from: Finding the Sacred Self: A Shamanic Workbook (Paperback)
Reading Dr. Susan Gregg's Finding the Sacred Self is an unforgettable and ongoing process. It is a book you will pick up again and again, reminding yourself that you can create and experience anything that you wish by returning to your real source of power. Dr. Gregg writes in a straighforward manner in a "workbook" context to make the lessons easily absorbed and incorporated into real life. Finding the Sacred Self is a must for anyone who wants to find their own sense of happiness and personal freedom.

4.0 out of 5 stars A refresing new angle to personal introspective work, January 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Finding the Sacred Self: A Shamanic Workbook (Paperback)
Dr. Gregg's new level of personal work in her second book is truly creative. Most beneficial to me were the meditation, personal ritual, and energy alignment, both alone and with others.
