About the Author

An internationally published full-time professional Astrologer, Jackie Slevin M.A., C.A, served as the co-director of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (NCGR) Education from 2000-2003 and is the founder and dean of the University of Geocosmic Studies, a distance learning program. She was the conference coordinator of NCGR Education Conferences in Hartford in 2001 and Minneapolis in 2003. A graduate of Classical Studies in Horary, she was a track coordinator at UAC 1995 and a member of the UAC 2002 Education Committee. She has served on the Board of New Jersey NCGR since 1983 and is currently a member of the NCGR Board of Examiners.

Finding Success in the Horoscope is an extremely valuable resource. I have been using it to put together a picture of where success lies in my chart, and in my life. I appreciate the author's system of determining the Midheaven (MC), and the relationships of the planets and aspects to the MC. I've read other books that refer to the MC, but never in such detail - she's right, it really deserves its own book! She explains each Midheaven sign, and later describes her system of using principle planets to further inform how the MC is expressed in the chart - I'd never read that before. She also includes diverse biographical portraits of people who have their MC in particular placements, to give an example of how the placement is expressed. I found the biographies most helpful when she explained in greater detail at the end of the personal profile the specifics of the person's chart and how it related to the midheaven.

I am at a point in my life now where I really want to be as informed as possible about which direction to take and where my strengths lie. This book has something for the beginning and the advanced student, as there are things she described that am I still learning about - for example, royal fixed stars. I am sure I will be returning to this book again and again, for myself and for guidance for my clients. I'm thankful for a such a comprehensive resource on the Midheaven, all in one book.

This easy to read and understand guide is very useful for identifying potential career fields by going beyond the placement of the MC and any planets in the 10th House. The author's concept of how to use the planet that most closely aspects the MC and various other techniques are original and effective. The book contains various example charts as well as a summary for easy reference. At a time when numerous clients are considering a career change, this is a very useful tool to point them in the right direction in a specific manner.
