5.0 out of 5 stars What a great perspective!
As a 20-something feeling like I've missed the boat, I'm used to getting advice from every direction on 'finding someone'. This book gives me such a better perspective on the whole process and why I'm actually doing well to be single! I feel like I have a whole new approach to every introduction, every blind date, and every new acquaintance. If you're a teenager just...

1.0 out of 5 stars Captain Obvious
This book states the obvious.....and maybe that is a good thing to be reminded of at times...but it is a short book with very simple concepts that, if you have good friends or belong to a decent church, you have heard before. I was disappointed in it.

This book gives me such a better perspective on the whole process and why I'm actually doing well to be single! I feel like I have a whole new approach to every introduction, every blind date, and every new acquaintance. If you're a teenager just starting to date, you need this book. If you're a 20-30-something, single, and looking, you need this book. If you're also Christian, you DEFINITELY need this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read..., January 15, 2004

This review is from: Finding Your Million Dollar Mate (Paperback)
I like the book "million dollar mate." It is encouraging to someone who is single with people getting married all around. I would highly recommend it to anyone who isn't married, especially college age and beyond. And, honestly, the more desperate the single, the more applicable this book. The focus of this book is a nice change from the typical single young adult's fixation on the emotional side of being in love. I will confidently go on secure in the knowledge that God has a plan for me and my future mate. I now have a better idea of what I'm looking for, and who knows when that may come in useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Basic, But It's Important., March 3, 2004

This review is from: Finding Your Million Dollar Mate (Paperback)
FINDING YOUR MILLION DOLLAR MATE is a simple book to read with a very simple concept. However, it's a concept that most people fail to recognize in life. The premise behind the book is that most people date and eventually marry a person of the opposite sex based upon the physical and/or one's personality. The book points out that the most important thing in any relationship is the spiritual and that if two people do not share the same spiritual values, their relationship will probably not work out. People and their personalities change over time and if that is all that a relationship is built upon, it's almost sure to fail. However, many people usually don't think about that when looking for a mate. Most are just lonely and want someone to spent time with. There's nothing wrong with that. But, instead of just picking anyone to date and spend time with, a person should look for someone they would want to spend the rest of their lives with, not just a few fleeting vain moments.

This book is not real deep and doesn't contain any critical thought and that's not the point. It does have an important message that many people in this country have probably never seriously thought about before. This is probably a good book for relatively new Christians or non-Christians who are feeling discontent in their relationships and they don't know why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for anyone in the dating scene, March 1, 2004
This review is from: Finding Your Million Dollar Mate (Paperback)
Many people seem to take some wrong turns when looking for a lifelong, committed mate. As a result the divorce rate is well over fifty percent within the first ten years of a marriage. Although there are many reasons for this situation, one of them is basing a relationship on transient attractions. In his book "Finding Your Million Dollar Mate" author Randy Pope proposes a Biblically based system for dating.

One of the high points of the book is his clear explanation and sound reasoning for why you should wait for the right person before engaging in sexual activity. In a world that supports sexual activity at earlier and earlier ages teenagers often don't want to accept "because it's wrong" as a reason for waiting. Randy Pope provides a positive answer for why you should wait. This book should be considered required reading for teenagers. "Finding Your Million Dollar Mate" is a highly recommended read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, December 12, 2005
This review is from: Finding Your Million Dollar Mate (Paperback)
This book was given to me by a close friend at a point in my life when I was already in a committed relationship. It helped me assess this relationship through the right eyes, free from the bias of fleeting emotions. The principles outlined by Randy Pope are, I believe, invaluable if your desire is to have a marriage built on the strongest foundation. It is worth the read. I have made gifts of it to some of my close friends who are thinking of marriage.
