Product Description

The Second World War has stolen Rosalie's fiance from her. But rather than wallow, Rosalie throws herself into her work at the Boeing plant in Victory Heights, shooting rivets into the B-17 bombers that will destroy the enemy. A local reporter dubs her Seattle's Own Rosie the Riveter, and her story lends inspiration to women across the country. While Rosalie's strong arms can bear the weight of this new responsibility, her heart cannot handle the intense feelings that begin to surface for Kenny, the handsome reporter. Fear of a second heartbreak is a powerful opponent - but will it claim victory over love?

5.0 out of 5 stars WWII history comes to life stateside, January 18, 2011
Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss have crafted a winning book in this World War II novel. Rosalie Madison has joined the women in the workforce, finding success as "Seattle's Own Rosie the Riverter." Her life is thrown together with reporter Kenny Davenport, who is assigned to cover her story. Past negative experience with newspapermen and discomfort as the center of attention compete with a growing affection for this handsome reporter.

Their homefront conflict plays out against the backdrop of the war. Patriotic Rosie does all she can to help, while feeling guilty over her fiancé, a pilot who perished overseas. Through it all the characters' faith grows stronger and they learn to trust the Lord and each other.

The novel is filled with period slang and authentic activities and experiences of the time. My parents lived through that era, with my mother working in an Oregon plywood mill, so it gave me a better feel for their lives then.

I can identify with Kenny's striving for excellence. His father helped him realize: "What mattered was the magnitude of help to humanity. God created each of us to give." No matter how seemingly important or mundane our tasks, we should seek to follow Christ. This lesson came through loud and clear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning!!, August 20, 2010
By
My first tour ever with LitFuse was a Love Finds You novel by none other than two fabulous authors: Tricia Goyer and Ocienna Fleiss. They are absolutely the perfect combination for co-authors. These talented women write as one and know what will capture their readers' hearts!

This dynamic duo knew how to hook readers with their fantastic Love Finds You in Lonesome Prairie, Montana, and they've done it again with Victory Heights, Washington. These talented ladies have taken amazingly crafted characters, an incredible era in time, fabulously thorough research, a lesson in letting go and moving on, and created a romantic, heart capturing story full of God that readers can both laugh and cry through. The use of the "Rosie the Riveter" was stunning and makes the story that much more engaging!

I fell in love with everything about this novel, but my heart my heart went out to Rosalie. She endured tragedy almost instantly and felt the turmoil of not letting go and hanging on to guilt. I could see a bit of myself in Rosalie's ways, as I traveled along side of her through this tender love story. It was a wonderful experience!

This is worthy of 5 star praises and so much more! It's an excellent addition to both a home library and the Love Finds You collection. It's also one of those books that would make a stunning Hallmark movie! I recommend this novel to everyone, especially if you've never read a Love Finds You book. You won't be sorry that you did and I'm sure, like me, you'll be anxiously awaiting another novel penned by this fantastic ladies!

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific historical romance!, August 13, 2010

"Thank you" to Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss and their publisher for sending me a copy of "Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

"Love Finds You In Victory Heights, Washington" by Tricia Goyer and Ocieanna Fleiss is a touching story of wartime loss and love that paints a picture of real life history. Rosalie is working on the homefront to support the war effort as one of the infamous women labeled "Rosie the Riveter". Now, she has lost her fiancé in combat during WWII. In her grief, she questions how true her love for this man was. This makes things difficult when Kenny appears on the scene. It doesn't help that he is a newspaper reporter - Rosalie doesn't trust journalists. Besides, why wouldn't he be off fighting in the war? Was he a coward?

This beautifully written tribute to the patriotic men and women of World War II is an enlightening journey for the historical romance reader. I am especially impressed because this novel was written by two authors. How do they do that and make the prose and dialogue flow so well? This is a thoroughly enjoyable book that I highly recommend for a weekend of entertaining reading.
