Book Description

June 1, 1999 7 and up
Nancy and her friends find a mystery that's truly for the birds!

Summer is off to a fun start! Nancy, Bess, and George have joined Park Pals, a cool program where they get to learn about nature -- stuff like trees, birds, even bugs. Their first stop is an aviary, a place filled with lots of birds, including Carmen, a beautiful hyacinth macaw from South America.

But when Todd Steckler holds a creepy jar of beetles in Bess's face, she screams -- and Carmen flies the coop! Now the girls have to find Carmen before she's bird-napped. If they track down the bird, they'll be made Junior Park Rangers, but if they don't, they'll be three very unhappy campers!

More About the Author

Carolyn Keene and Franklin W. Dixon are the pseudonyms under which many ghostwriters penned the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, respectively. Both series were created by Edward Stratemeyer, founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate book packaging firm, in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

Stratemeyer's daughter, Harriet, and syndicate writer Mildred Wirt Benson were the two people primarily responsible for bringing the iconic character of Nancy Drew to life in the minds and hearts of millions of readers around the world.

This review is from: The Fine-Feathered Mystery (Nancy Drew Notebooks #31) (Paperback)
Nancy, Bess and George are all members of Park Pals. It's a great summer vacation program, and it's a chance to learn all they can about the world of nature. River Heights' park boasts a beautiful aviary, filled with the most beautiful birds that the girls have ever seen.

When a pesty boy tries to scare Bess with a bunch of creepy-crawly bugs, she lets out a scream, frightening away Carmen, the park's prize hyacinth macaw! Now Nancy is on one of the biggest cases of her third-grade career. She's got to use her trusty blue notebook to start recording clues and suspects.

Can they find Carmen before summer's end? There's lots riding on this for the three friends. If they can return Carmen to the aviary, they'll be made Junior Park Rangers. If they don't, it looks like this will be one sorry summer.

The Fine-Feathered Mystery is another of Carolyn Keene's mysteries that have been adored by readers for generations. This is an exciting mystery story with a setting that is both educational and fun.
