As any good sequel should, the second volume of Fine Furniture Finishing takes the previous work to a higher level. Master finisher David Sorg teaches decorative techniques that build on methods taught in Volume 1. Sorg demonstrates how to use paint to achieve a granite look, gives a picture frame a peeling paint effect; does intricate pinstriping, stenciling, and paint dragging on a chest of drawers; and displays faux marble and negative marbling techniques. His slow pace--the video is 135 minutes long--allows him to cover all the bases, but it sometimes feels like the world's longest infomercial, though he's not pushing any products, just a deliberate, professional approach. His work is stunning, as if it's jumped out of the pages of a tony shelter magazine, and he does his best to convince you that you, too, can do this at home. --Valerie J. Nelson

The marble techniques are awesome and relatively simple too. The most revealing aspect was how to get those lucious shiny finishes for wood or your marble finish. A great follow-up to Volume 1.
