About the Artist

Spitvalves are from and will always be from Orlando Florida. In stark contrast to the polished, produced and pre-packaged pop music that has currently become the flavor of the region, Spitvalves have defined themselves by NOT putting their fans and music in front of any image conscience sensibilities.

Formed seven years ago by a dynamic mix of cultures and influences, Spitvalves are held together by their love of music and performing it live. With influences ranging from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones to Fugazi and the Beastie Boys, Spitvalves continue to defy the boundaries of the Ska-Core category from which they dominate.

Since the initial release of “Fine Print at the Bottom,” (which was co produced by Roman Flysher of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones) the Spitvalves have played over 100 shows, 4 of which were at last summers Vans Warped Tour. Thanx to the many live performances under their belt, the Spitvalves are now capable of reproducing the same tight knit sound that is found on “Fine Print at the Bottom.”

While many bands adhere to the D.I.Y. ethic, the Spitvalves truly live it. In the past three years, the Spitvalves have enjoyed three self produced releases on their own label. They have crisscrossed across the country on several self booked tours and continue to churn out an unbelievable amount of merchandise on their very own silkscreen press.

Just recently the Spitvalves won the category of “Best Ska/Punk” band by the readers of the Orlando Weekly and are currently touring local clubs throughout the Southeast and the US.

The Spitvalves are: Charlie Bender (Vocals), Mikey Cortes (Guitar), Tito Esquiaqui (Drums), Bill Lance (Trombone), Ricky San Jose (Trumpet), and Chris Young (Saxaphone.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Spitvalves do it again, November 12, 2003

I love the Spitvalves. I love a lot of ska, but I have to say that Spitvalves, Save Ferris and Dance Hall Crashers are my favourites. This is another great release, packed with energy and blending hardcore punk and ska seamlessly. You have to
get it!!!!!!

Spitvalves are the best plain and simple. From begging to end this album is agressive as hell. Spitvalves rivals thier influences such as the bosstones. You cant like ska and not like spitvalves. If you get a chance go see one of thier shows thier garunteed to make you move like you never had. So stop read and BUY THIS ALBUM.

5.0 out of 5 stars More great music from the Spitvalves, May 5, 2001

For years the Spitvalves have been putting out their own music in Orlando...On the re-release of their new CD, Fine Print at the Bottom, you will find more of what everyone in Orlando has come to expect from the Spitvalves over the last 7 years...great ska-core music, with a blending of everything from funk, to metal, to hip-hop...On every track Charlie belts out his vocals while Mike Cortes rips through with his guitar riffs...Also the horn section plays with a deep down intensity, while not lossing site of the fact that they are having fun...Tito on drums keeps the band pumping with his blend of funk and syncopated rhythms tied in with Lances bass lines...Anyone who has never heard of the Spitvalves should take a listen to the previews of the tracks...I have had this album since they first released it themselves, and every song on the album grows on you over time...
