Roberta C. Carr presents top designer style techniques for use in a variety of sewing projects. She is a great teacher who presents the techniques in a clear and easy-to-follow way. Camera closeups illustrate the various steps and show garments progressing through the various stages of readiness.
This is the best sewing program I've seen. I hear Ms. Carr has other video programs and I can't wait to see them!

I was very impressed with the techniques in this DVD. Great ideas through out and don't pay that much attention to her questionable fashion. (She wears the same dress in many different fabrics.) She teaches all the techniques in a way that does not assume that you know basic steps that lead up to the technique. I will use this DVD over and over again.

After 30 years of sewing, Roberta was able to teach me some new things. Clear instructions, easy to follow, and lots of information.

I would recommend this DVD or any of Roberta Carr's books for anyone who is interested in couture-type sewing. She is thorough and so many ideas are presented that are very much out of the ordinary.

Roberta Carr is awesome. Aside from, as other reviewers have noted, her rather, um, eccentric fashion sense, she is fantastic at going through the steps of each technique thoroughly but without ever dumbing things down. Her teaching style is totally efficient and precise, and even after sewing for 15 years and having 3 wedding gowns under my belt, I learned a ton. I highly recommend this video.

I enjoyed this CD and found it very helpful to see how certain techniques were achieved. Roberta made it very easy to follow along with her way of achieveing a very professional look. I just wish there were more like this.

This is one from a series of Couture Techniques instruction on VHS from back in the late 1980's timeframe, which I am thrilled to see is out on DVD! The caption at the top of the DVD says "Allied Artists Classics", and classics they are! I still have several of the old VHS tapes, and even though the dress styles are ....... Interesting, by today's standards....... Believe me, the techniques she shares are absolutely relevant to yesterday, today and tomorrow........ Timeless! The instruction is very easy to follow and very thorough! She takes you through many different aspects of these magical techniques!!! If you love Claire Schaeffer and her amazing and gifted books and DVDs, I believe you will also enjoy this series from Roberta Carr. I hope they release all this old series on DVD! So happy to see this!!!

I have the book version which I love, but it always helps to see the techniques done in action. I just wish her other videos were still available.

I love this DVD. I like that it is split into chapters so you can go straight to the one needed. This is great for me so I can only review the section I need. I don't want to say she has outrageous dresses because I wasn't so much distracted by them but impressed by them. She obviously made all the dresses and I like that she probably designed them all and did something she loves. You have to respect that even if you don't like the style. She obviously knows what she's talking about in the videos and that's what matters. I also like her style of teaching. I never feel like she's talking down but just including us in her sewing. Fabulous details and pride are exhibited here for the viewers enjoyment.

This is a great DVD if you like to do Counture sewing. I bought this vedio because I need a dvd that can show me how to do something over and over. I like to sew for my children and this is a DVD for adult sewing. So if you want to sew for yourself then I think you should get it. If you like wearing your sewing for the office then this is a must also. I can use some of techniques she shows like a blind button whole for dresses. If you want soemthing for children this is not the DVD to get.
