One of the Finest books, December 31, 2007
This review is from: The Finest Kind: The Fishermen of Gloucester (Paperback)
At the time I'm writing this, there's only one other review (negative) and it stresses that the book isn't about fishing. To some degree, that's true, but the review misses the point. The Finest Kind is about the lifestyle for generations, unfortunately one that looks like it's on its way out, of a small fishing town in New England. It's a raw narrative of the "men who go down to the sea in ships" and their daily battles with nature, the government, themselves.

A waste of the Readers Time, February 15, 2006
This review is from: The Finest Kind: The Fishermen of Gloucester (Paperback)
This book is nothing more than a diary of the authors observations and has very little to do with the act of fishing.
Save your money on this one and buy Working on the Edge by Spike Walker.
