I WAS ALWAYS NERVOUS ABOUT FLIPPING THE BIRD, BUT KNOW I NOW IT IS NORMAL. THIS BOOK IS AWESOME AND TEACHES YOU THAT THE MIDDLE FINGER IS NORMAL

Did you ever stop to think that if you gave someone the "thumbs up" in Italy it would have a less than desired effect? Nay, it would be detrimental. Instead of encouraging and rewarding its recipient, the upturned thumb is in fact a rude command, beseeching whomsoever sees it to do unspeakable things with their thumb: things requiring the use of a handy wipe when finished. This and other extremely interesting and useful facts can be gleaned by the readers of this highly insightful monograph. I give it one finger up!

Surprisingly readable, and well-designed book about the middle finger and the history of "the bird."

I was a bit dubious that this topic could carry a whole book, but in fact, it does.

This book is, quite simply put,a revelation. It is the seminal work on the subject of the "finger". While highly entertaining, one is also amazed at the historical depth and cultural breadth this simple offensive gesture takes. It is a must read for those who have a passionate obsession, or a mere passing fancy, with modern culture and cultural anthropology.

This book is truly comprehensive and funny. It's amazing how much stuff they cram in here. I liked the weird pictures best. One odd thing I noticed was that the cover of the book is different than the graphic here on amazon.com. My book has a 3-d finger on it that actually flips you off! Much cooler.

I loved this book - it was short, sweet, and sassy. The authors answer all the questions I ever had about flipping people off and more. I learned fun facts about giving the finger and good arguments to use in court should I ever get arrested for my use of the finger. A literary work that has been missing from America's bookshelf for entirely too long.

At first glance, a book solely about the middle finger seems a bit overdone. A bit unnecessary. A bit...vulgar. But after second, third, and fourteenth glance, you'll find yourself on the floor with laughter. It's great as a party game, too, where you can flash pictures of famous celebrities flipping you off, and see who can do their best imitation. It's fun! Check it out!

After reading this book, I found my usage of profanity dropping off. No more nickels in the swear jar! Now I can substitute one of the endless variations of flipping someone off that I learned - all thanks to these guys. Buy it. Or I'll use one of them on you!

this book changed my life! before i felt like i had a meaningless existance but now, after seeing celebrities flip me off, i feel sure that i do. actually, i really read this book for the articles. its analysis of the law and the middle finger was well researched and will doubtlessly affect the rulings of the courts for generations to come. buy this book! you won't be sorry
