About the Author

William Lingwood is one of Britain's best-known names in food photography. But he didn't start that way. As an oil-worker in the Middle East, he learned to cook from the books of Elizabeth David and Jane Grigson, and was inspired by the photography of Robert Freson and Treagar. In 1990, he hung up his desert boots and picked up a camera, and his work now appears in magazines, books, and advertising campaigns.

Elsa Petersen-Schepelern is a Danish-Australian food and wine writer and editor. She began her working life as a publicist for movie stars, best-selling novelists, sportsmen, and comedians, as well as top chefs, before taking up the pen and the pans on her own account. Based in London, Elsa now spends much of her time sampling food and wine in France, Italy, Denmark, and Asia, drawing on an eclectic mix of cuisines as the inspiration for her delicious recipes. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed, January 26, 2001
By
This review is from: Finger Food (Hardcover)
I made five "recipes" from the book for a party, and not one was remotely fabulous. I will look through the book one more time to see if there's anything that looks interesting, and if not, take it to the resale shop (probably with a note that I wasn't impressed).

4.0 out of 5 stars I wholly disagree..., April 16, 2001
This review is from: Finger Food (Hardcover)
I found the book's recipes sound (some I would make, others not in a million years--much like any cookbook), but the author really outdoes herself on presentation. You could buy the book strictly for aesthetic tips and get your money's worth.

1.0 out of 5 stars Essentially boring, September 11, 2006
By
This review is from: Fingerfood (Hardcover)
A very 'pretty' book but nothing very new in terms of recipes. And I didn't find the recipes very exciting or innovative. Almost more a 'coffee table' book than a cookbook.
