Good pulse Ox for the money,

This review is from: Finger Pulse Oximeter SM-110 with Carry Case and Neck/Wrist Cord (Health and Beauty)
The manufacturer says that it is accurate to ±2% on O2 and ±2 beats on pulse. I run with a rescue squad and checked against our $300 pulse Ox. It is within tollerances. It works fine while walking or mild exercise--like a stationary bike. But it will come off of your finger if you try to use it during vigorous exercise. It works better on the middle finger than the first and if you have long nails it may read inaccurately or marginally.

My sister was recovering from pneumonia, she was in the hospital for about a month. We bought to check her blood/oxygen content at home. When I recieved this new oximeter I took it to the hospital & compared it to the theirs. The readings were same.

This is exactly what my doctor told me to order. It has all the features of my doctor oximeter. I compared readings 5 times with hospital oximeter and every time it was accurate. Now I can check my readings at home and know when to take oxygen.

You press the power button, stick your finger in the comfortable clamp, and the reading shows up in a few seconds. The SpO2 and pulse rate readings are displayed in clear, large, red numerals. I compared the readings simultaneously with my doctor's "professional" meter, literally "mano y mano", and found this meter to be consistently 2% high. I spoke with a respiratory therapist and she agreed that it's not a big deal, or unusual, for personal SpO2 meters to be off by a bit. The mark of quality is that the readings are consistently off in the same direction and the discrepancy is small. That is certainly the case with this product. The meter has a very nice finish to it. It looks much less like a toy than some of the less expensive (and a few of the more expensive) models available. However, if you can live without the case, the neck cord, and some cosmetic fanciness then this, Fingertip Pulse Oximeter, gets you the same functionality for about $10 less. One issue that I and some other reviewers had was when we installed the batteries. As you can see from the accompanying video, the proper battery position is clearly marked. It's just for some reason you need to be a bit more careful in this case. The good news, and I know this from personal experience, is that the unit works fine if you first try it with the batteries inserted the wrong way. BTW, I feel that honest, effective reviews, accompanied by detailed videos, can take the place of first-hand experiences that are often lacking in online shopping. I've always appreciated the help I've received from other reviewers and try to return the favor as best as I can. I hope you found this review helpful and the video at least entertaining. If there was anything you thought was lacking or unclear leave a comment and I'll do what I can to fix it.

My first experience with the Oximeter Superstore was honestly not great. The oximeter I ordered arrived on time, but the cover to the battery compartment was broken, so I never could tell even if it worked. I returned it and purchased a different one from a different company. However, the company has since got in touch to make up for the damaged oximeter - they sent a brand-new one, free of charge, and it is state of the art. As I ordered the oximeter for my father, who has COPD and a cardiac condition, my only priority was to get a good product that would help us monitor his health. Now, thanks to the excellent customer service and concern about the viability of their products, the Oximeter Superstore has made that possible.
As for the oximeter itself - it is lightweight and non-constricting (a huge plus for anyone who knows how uncomfortable these fingertip devices can be in the hospital). The display is perfectly legible and not at all confusing (another huge plus for those of us whose medical experience comes through trial and error with a loved one !), and it is as portable as they come. A great little product that joins the useful to the agreeable.

I bought this pulse oximeter about 4-6 months ago. Small, handy to carry to my hospice patients, great for recertifications. Then it stopped working. I get an ERROR 7 message. No where in the brochure tells you what error 7 is. Nor is there and address to return for adjusting. $50.00 lost. Patricia Ley
Reply to my earlier review: I just wanted those who may read my earlier review to know that once the supplier heard of my problem they called the very next day to confirm an issue and said I would receive a replacement the next day. They made good on their promise and I received a new pulse oximeter today. I would not hesitate to order from this company again with the service I received. Malfuctions can happen with the best of intensions. Many thanks, Patrica Ley RN hospice nurse

I'm an acute care nurse in a 500+ bed hospital. Finding a pulse oximeter that works is sometimes a nightmare, they seem to disappear off the machines or just in general do not work. I got this for a backup, and it works wonderfully.1. It is comfortable on the finger 2. It has a neck strap and is relatively light enough to wear, however it is small enough for a scrub pocket 3. It came with the batteries needed :) 4. It is accurate 5. It has a self shutoff so as not to waste batteries Overall I am really happy with this product UPDATE: 1 year later, still love this product and it's still working with no problems.

My mom has COPD, I bought this oximeter for her. She compared with her doctor oximeter, we found it to be very accurate, easy to use, sturdy and it came with neck cord and case to carry the oximeter.

My wife use this product to monitor her pulse and blood oxygen after exertion (housework, walking, stairs) because of an enzyme deficiency that has affected her lungs...She use oxygen at night.
Catching lows is very important in monitoring lung function, particularly when we have an ozone alert....knowing when She absolutely should not exert or be exposed to outside air or her suffering drowsiness or headache related to hypoxia |
