Very good book, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Fingerpicking Beatles and Expanded Edition: 30 Songs Arranged for Solo Guitar in Standard Notation and Tab (Finger Style Guitar) (Paperback)
I've been playing guitar for about 18 months. (43 year old late starter.) Gravitate toward fingerstyle play. My progress is slow, but I enjoy it. No hurry. I'm still a biginner, really.
This book is just the right level for me. The songs are difficult at first, but playable with persistance and practice. The arrangements don't require any more than a three fret stretch, and picking is mostly either one or two strings, or full chords. Some are harder than others, so it will keep me busy for awhile.
Oh, yes, the songs are really beautiful as well!

excellent and easy book for fingerstyle practice, December 8, 2006
This review is from: Fingerpicking Beatles and Expanded Edition: 30 Songs Arranged for Solo Guitar in Standard Notation and Tab (Finger Style Guitar) (Paperback)
I agree with the other reviewers. This book offers a great way to practice fingerstyle guitar and to enjoy what you are playing. This book would be especially helpful to those who have a bit of fingerstyle knowledge already, but might not yet call themselves "intermediates". The tab is big and easy to read (however there are none of those little boxes above that show finger placement for the chords---sorry I forgot what those are called!--You can tell I am self taught!) It is not an instruction book, so one would have to have some very basic knowledge of guitar playing. If you are interested in a great Fingerstyle Guitar book to complement this one, or even for those who haven't yet tried Fingerstyle guitar--I would whole-heartedly suggest Mark Galbo and Arnie Berle's "Beginning Fingerstyle Blues Guitar". One other thing I'd like to add is that if you are mainly looking for a book which shows how the Beatles played the songs--exactly--note for note--this would not be it. If you are looking for some fun fingerstyle arrangements that will stretch you from advanced beginner to maybe early intermediate, and you want to enjoy the journey, this book is a good bet.
