I lived, worked, and traveled in China for 10 months and never left for a trip without this handy book tucked in my purse or a pocket. It makes no pretenses at being an exhaustive guide to the Chinese language and culture, but provides an overview that is sufficient for travelers new to China and travelers more familiar with the country but limited language skills.
