Hilarious, timeless yet dated, July 20, 2010
This review is from: The Finieous Treasury, Vol. I (Paperback)
How can a book be both "dated" and "timeless"? The cartoons here are from the very early days of the Dragon magazine, a leader in Fantasy Role Playing. The art is thus fairly primitive compared to today. But the humor is still funny, even after several editions of D&D, and the cartoons would be funny to any person who played any Role Playing games- or even folks who just know a bit about them.
Finieous is a cowardly and oftimes inept "thief", who gets his buddies into fix after fix.
Note that the book is just 40 pages long, which means it wasn't such a great buy even at it's published price of $3. Now, you're lucky to get a copy at 10 times that. For me, it was a Blast from the Past, and I had fun remembering how things once were.
