Once the hidden files are deleted properly, the SwiMP3.2G returns to normal functionality. To properly delete files on a MAC operating system, not only does the user need to trash the files but also empty the trash bin.

About Bone Conduction Audio Transmission:
Ideal for swimmers and submerged use, bone conduction audio transmission bypasses the ear canal by vibrating through the bones, sending sound directly into the inner ear. This alternative conduction allows for the transmission of clear sound in the absence of air. The SwiMP3 uses this system to surround you with high-fidelity music as soon as you submerge your head under water.

I just feel so dissatisfied about the quality of the electronics in Finis SwiMP3 2G that I would discourage anyone buying this.

This is a review of the actual product (the 2 GB Finis Swimp3.2G), and not a review of the company that shipped the product.

I swim about 45 mins 5 days a week and use several different strokes and sometimes use a kick board (head isn't underwater).

Pros:
Very very easy to load music. You plug it in and drag the music into the removable disk. Not sure why someone would have problems with this step, but the average computer user will find this basic and not an issue. Make folders for playlists (mine are music and podcasts). I use MixMeister BPM Analyzer to calculate the Beats per minute and have playlists in iTunes with different BPM to keep my pace.

Switching between playlists is easy once you get used to the buttons. It's hard because you have to remember which is next and which is previous (based on your fingers because you can't see them when you are in the water)and then the combination to make you skip to the next playlist and then put it on shuffle. But once you get used to it, it's really easy.

The device itself is quite revolutionary. I was very skeptical about the "bone conduction." Out of the water the sound is shallow or thin. But once you are in the water, and I don't mean submersed, I mean swimming laps like normal people swim (head in and out constantly) the sound quality is remarkable. There is depth and the tone is very clear. Without earplugs, I'm sure it would be difficult to have these work correctly, so get some. I have listened to both audiobooks, podcasts, and music. I can hear very clearly every word and at only about half volume.

Battery life is excellent, but I may not be the best judge on this. I turn mine off using the reset button. I also charge mine once a week.

ordered this from trinowfitness. It came very quickly and I was very excited to use it. It took a few days to figure out how to load it. once done I headed to the pool. When i started swimming I thought it was great= really cool to have music and the sound was great. After the third song the unit stopped. So...I went home and reloaded thinking i did it wrong. For a week i tried contacting finis. Not easy to get an answer= they require a suport ticket and can take two days to get back to you. Finally , I called and got through after 4 attemps. I was told that this is a new product and they have been having problems with it. It was determined by technical support that the item is defective and I should send it back. However, they will not pay the shipping- its not their policy. Also...it may take up to 2 weeks to get a new one. Really??? you would think if its their faulty design they would try and compensate you for the inconvenience.
So..if it was working sound is good and item is great. But...considering the time and effort only to find out that I will be penalized for buying the new updated model= not happy!!!Big drag!!! buy the older model and dont have the hastle.

I got through to Finis much quicker than the earlier reviewer but with much the same results. They must be having a lot of problems with this model because the tech was very quick to respond that it was defective and needed to be replaced. I also had to pay to ship it back. Very poor customer service model.

I was so excited to receive this product as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately it was not worth the money my wife paid for it and definitely not worth the hassle it provided. It worked for one song only even though I uploaded 136 songs as my first experience with the product. Unfortunately after the one song it played it then then provided an endless blinking green light. Reformatting, resetting, etc. would not help this product to get out of the blinking light tailspin I continually experienced. Although excited about the prospect this product would bring, I'll continue to swim in silence until another company - with proper QA measures - comes up with a more reliable product. For those who have experienced this product positively, cheers to you. For those considering purchasing this product, buyer beware.

BELBTX: FINIS is sorry for the inconvenience you have experience with the SwiMP3 2G. The quick green flashing could be two things. (1) The songs you have on the unit aren't in a playable format like mp3 or wma. You may need to convert iTunes songs to the right format before loading onto the SwiMP3 or (2) Your MAC pushed over a bug that stopped playback on the unit. Our Product Engineers have worked diligently to address the issue with this product. Our Engineers determined the bug in the firmware and have created a firmware update. If you complete a support ticket provided on the support site (www.support.finisinc.com) someone in our technical support will respond with the directions on how to update the firmware. Again, FINIS appreciates your feedback and if have any additional comments or concern please contact our Technical Support Department.

The unit stopped playing, stopped charging. It has a permanent green light on it. Contacted Finis, their model is that they require a support ticket and take two business days two respond. They will give you a new unit but do not cover return shipping. I have low expectations from the replacement unit, it will likely fail in a few weeks again. I am hooked and made a bad investment.

UPDATE: the unit started to distort (right speaker) I sent it to Finis for replacement

I recently moved to a place where I had free access to a pool, so I started using swimming as a great, low-impact cardio routine... but found that it was a bit monotonous, all the laps, only thinking about what lap I was on and how far I needed to go. Having this SwiMP3 in place has made all the difference - on my first use I doubled my distance, and the swims have been getting longer and longer. One of the things that has made it even better since buying it is that I have also gotten a snorkel, so now my ears really don't ever leave the water and the music quality remains constant. Ear plugs are the other thing that will not only help with the sound quality but also keep the water out of your ears and reduce your chance of earaches.

The only drawback I had with these was that mounting them on my goggles either meant that my goggles leaked or I had to pull them really, really tight... until I got the snorkel. Now my goggles are only as tight as they need to be normally, because I'm instead mounting the SwiMP3 on the snorkel, not my goggles (the snorkel I use is also from Finis: Finis Swimmer's Snorkel). So, with just the goggles I might have given this four stars, but now that I've got that issue worked out it's definitely a 5.
