For those with hard water... use this and get clean dishes!,

I was having problems with hard water in my dishwasher, even though I didn't realize it! My dishes were coming out dirty, many of them had a nasty white film on them that I THOUGHT was the dish soap, and I was ready to replace the dishwasher itself. Well, come to find out that after researching all over the internet... I have hard water issues and all these are symptoms of hard water. I saw that Kitchenaid recommended using "Glass Magic" and decided to give it a shot before I tossed the dishwasher. Well, I have to say that my dishes have come out amazingly clean ever since I started putting 1/4 cup of this on the bottom of the dishwasher during each load. I am so glad I gave it a shot. We considered putting in a water softener in our house, but this is MUCH cheaper and much more worthwhile. The boxes are small, so last time I ordered a dozen of them, and I go through about 2 or 3 of them a month with doing one dish load a day on average, so you can save on shipping if you order a whole bunch at once.

even works w/ Pelican water conditioner!!,
By M Todd (Salem, VA USA) - See all my reviews

We just built a new house and have hard water. I chose to use a Pelican water conditioner instead of a salt based softener. So it helps w/ scale on appliances but leaves the minerals in the water. We tried EVERYTHING to get the dishwasher to work correctly. We had technicians out and they all said the washer was working correctly. We increased the water temperature, used/didn't use rinse agent, used different detergents, etc. We even switched out dishwashers! But the second one (a different brand) was no better. Not just spots, but it didn't clean the dishes. So I searched the net, and found recommendations for Lemi-Shine, and Glass Magic. I found Lemi-Shine at a local store and tried it first. No help. We literally began using the dishwasher as an expensive drying rack for hand washed dishes. So I broke down and ordered some Glass Magic. From the very first load, the dishes were spotless, clean, and the dull stainless steel of the washer tub was bright again! I am a believer. This stuff works.

Phosphates Work!,

Got a new dishwasher 2 years ago and over the past year it wasn't getting dishes and glasses clean. Then I read that the feds prohibited use of phosphates in detergents. Trouble is, that is what cleans stuff! So I bought Finish with phosphates online and guess what -- the dishes and glasses are sparkling clean. This product really works and I am purchasing more.

We have very hard water. The dishes and dishwasher were literally caked with a white film of calcium. The Glassmagic clears it off with the first use and keeps it off. We haven't noticed any etching either.

Boosting Your Dishwasher Results,

For those of you frustrated by dingy, dull clean dishes, this product is for you! New environmental standards have removed phosphorus from dishwasher detergent just as they did laundry detergent some years ago. This Finish product brings back the sparkle and shine to your glasswear, flatwear and dishes. Just 1/4 cup sprinkled in the bottom of the dishwasher ... along with your dishwasher detergent (Cascade is the WORST of the worst) ... and your dishes will look like new.

To be fair to this product I have to first disclose that my dishes were a hot mess as a result of using the new and "improved" formula of Cascade powder dishwasher soap in the paler green package. All of my dishes were covered and streaked with a fine, white, powder-like stain that absolutely would not come off for anything. Unfortunately I used this destructive Cascade formula for several loads, thinking all the while that something was wrong with my dishwasher, and by the time I figured out what was going on it was too late. Nearly all of my dishes looked ruined. Enough of that, it really needs to go onto a Cascade product review. However, the sorry condition of my dishes most certainly had an impact on my perception of this Glass Magic product, so it is important to note.Glass Magic did remove some of the stain from my dishes, and under normal hard water circumstances would probably have been just the ticket to shiny glassware. I am giving four stars instead of five because it not do the whole job, so I had to either continue my search or just keep on using gross dishes. Also the product is really expensive, especially for such a small box. I really thought it was going to be a bigger quantity but my mistake for not reading the description, so no stars deducted for that. I was desperate for anything that might work. BTW, I did find another product that did the job completely and in one wash!! It's called Lemi-Shine. I picked it up for only 3.99 at Ralph's, just by dumb luck and willing to try anything. That stuff really works! Have bought another batch of it just in case they quit making it. Or decide to "improve" it. Anyway, do not use that new Cascade!! It should be pulled from the shelves, nasty stuff. Hope this helps someone prevent (or resolve) this problem.

After a frustrating search in the stores, I was delighted to find this product on line and receive it within a couple of days. Also relieved to find that it worked as promised in the dishwasher.

Item received promptly from shipper. Product worked as advertised. We purchased the product because we have very hard water and our dishwasher could not clean the dishes and left the glassware cloudy. The repair technician told us to try this product as it would soften the water and permit the detergent to work. He was correct and now the dishes, silverware and glassware look beautiful.

Wonderful Product,
I was quite annoyed by the cloudy film on my glasses. Every time I took them out of the dishwasher, I'd have to wash them again. Upon searching the internet & the dishwasher manufacturer, they all recommended Glass Magic...What a fantastic product! I was so confident of its performance I ordered 3 boxes.....Alas! no more cloudy glasses. I would highly recommend this product for the "cloudy glass" problem. The only dislike is that Glass Magic has a tendency to clump in the box, but a few quick taps on the counter loosens the product enough to pour it out. Try it, you'll like it, no, you'll love it.
