Offered in a convenient 4-ounce squeeze bottle, the Finish Line DRY Teflon Bicycle Chain Lube is the bicycle industry's original "dry" lubricant. Made with Teflon fluoropolymer and specialized synthetic oils, this lube is designed to run silky smooth and provide excellent durability. The lube goes on wet, but then sets up in a dry, paste-like film that won't attract or absorb grit and grime.

Perfect for on or off-road riding, the DRY lube works well in dry, dirty, and dusty conditions while still providing adequate wet weather performance. The lube also holds up to extreme pressures and resists water wash-off. A versatile all-weather chain lubricant, DRY also works great for use on derailleurs, brakes, and shifter pivots.

I've tried wax based lubes, wet, dry, winter, you name it, and always end up coming back to teflon dry lube--specifically this one.

The only other lube I've tried that I would maybe use again is Cross-Country lube of the same brand, and only for really harsh weather conditions, because it stays on the chain a lot longer in a major downpour--so I don't have to relube a wet chain or suffer the fact that other lubes will wash out. Even in those circumstances though, the teflon lube holds up rather well.

Winter lubes don't thicken as easily at low temperatures, but teflon doesn't get the least bit sticky anyway.

Totally clean, and it does a nice job of flushing grime out of the individual links when applied.

To apply this lube most of the time, shift your chain to the largest chainring in the front and smallest cog in the back, run your chain through a rag to get the bulk of the grit and grime off (or use Lysol kitchen degreaser wet wipes), then apply one drop per link--starting and ending at the 'end pin' which is the one that looks different from the rest.

I typically don't lube the cogs and don't recommend anyone do so. It's a giant waste and it overlubes the drivechain. Instead, apply one drop to each link, then run the bike through all its gears so it gets a touch of lube on each tooth, just to prevent rusting and excess wear.

If you use the spray on version of this or any lube, apply, wait 20 minutes, then wipe off the excess by running the chain through a rag.

I typically apply lube every 100 kilometers (or 62 miles). I don't do it during rides, just try to remember to do it sometime in the proximity of that distance.

So as soon as I got this I cleaned my chain and applied one drop at every link, then I let it dry and went for a ride. Really great for the dusty singletrack I was going down. On the way back I got caught in a huge downpour. At that point I was remembering the one review that talked about how quickly the rain will destroy this lube. I rode two miles in some really heavy rain to get back. By the time I got home I could tell it had worn off some, but nothing near as catastrophic as the other review. No problem with brakes.

So I have some confidence as far as riding through rain with this stuff for a relatively short amount of time (10 miles would have been an issue). I mostly ride dusty singletrack though. Using a wet lube that would hold up in the rain would result in me having to clean the chain after every ride due to dust build up. So even if I have to clean the chain and re-apply after every big downpour, this lube still saves me a ton of cleaning. I definitely wouldn't call this lube ready for "All riding conditions" as the bottle says though, so minus a star for that.

I've bought this in the past under the name Dupont Teflon All-Purpose Lubricant. Even the bottle looks almost the same, as does the cap--and that reminds me...be sure to close the cap securely, as this stuff evaporates fast. That's also part of its advantage. It penetrates well, then dries with no long term dripping or running.

In use. Home door hinges, door locks, automobile door latches, dog trimmer blades, and I can't even remember how many places I've used this stuff. Oh yes, I use it on the bike as well. A treatment with this lube lasts quite a while, too. The door hinges I lubed three years ago have not squeaked. Great Dupont product, under any name.

This product is easy to apply and, when excess lube is properly removed after application, doesn't seem to attract too much dirt and grime.

My (only) gripe, however, is with its corrosion resistance properties: the label clearly states that Finish Line "...prevents rusting in extreme conditions". I'm not sure if about twenty minutes of riding under pretty heavy rain/snow quite qualifies for extreme conditions, but in a couple of days the whole chain was covered in unsightly surface rust (I'd call it rust spots, but they provided a pretty uniform coverage - all in all, it was one yellow chain).

Now, the package provides no info on the composition (why, BTW?),but if this formulation does include a corrosion inhibitor, it obviously doesn't work as intended, or, at the very least, doesn't work well enough to support the claim that it prevents rusting

Other than that - it's an OK product.

My preferred chain lube. I have tried several "dry lubes" and most of them never completely dry and end up flicking dirty lube over the back the back wheel and back triangle. The Finish Line Dry lube penetrates well into the chain rivets and does in fact dry into a film that sticks to your chain. Like the review title says, this is Good Stuff.

I'm a newbie when it comes to bike maintenance. I recently bought a decent bike and was determined to take care of it. The bike had some shifting issues and the chain would slip every few rotations. The chain itself had a few joints that were stuck and causing the slips. By manually flexing them and just adding this lube (before I had a chain tool) I managed to stop the chain problems and have a nice smooth ride. After a few rides through heavy rain the chain started slipping again. A full cleaning and reapplication of this lube and the chain has performed well for a few weeks now even with the bad chain.

No noticeable build-up of dirt etc. on the chain yet after 100 or so miles, although when I did the initial cleaning I notice theres a lot of black stuff coming off the chain, likely residue of the teflon and metal but I can't be sure. I wipe off the excess lube after I'm done applying this so the bike stays fairly clean.

So far, I have no complaints about this product. It does what its meant for. I'm going to take care of this bike and it should serve me well for a long time.
