The main tool of the brush works just as advertised. Definitely for the money it is one of those must have items. The brush handle and bristles seem durable. 3.0 out of 5 stars Meh...
It helps a bit but if you are already using a quality chain cleaner or kerosene this probably won't help as much as you think. I used it to help with my chain but to be honest it didn't really do more than my shop rags did. I think the rags got more gunk off the chain after using the cleaner. The brush just rubs the grunge back into the chain. I don't know, I feel like I...

The main tool of the brush works just as advertised. Definitely for the money it is one of those must have items. The brush handle and bristles seem durable. The only minor complaint I would have is the bristles on the tail end of the brush. They are very thick and wide and don't do a great job of holding cleaner. Not a big deal if you are using the spay on type like Motex. If you use it with the Finish Line Grunge Cleaner, which you need to put into a container and apply with the brush, it is a little difficult to apply due to the brush not holding the fluid well. That is about the only minor complaint that keeps me from giving it a 5-star and something that is likely not a big deal to many users.

Great product and looks like it will last a while with some proper care (I remove and soak the brushes in dish soap after use).

Cleans my motorcycle chain in about 5 minutes

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing... Chain looks like new, January 19, 2011

The hours of maintenance on my mountain bike does not come close to equalling the amount of miles I've put into it. It was a cheapy that I have not cleaned in nearly two years (I kid you not). So I've recently made up my mind to use some TLC on my bike because it has been serving me well. The first step was to get it CLEAN.

The long bristles on this brush easily gets into the tight spaces in between cogs and gears and derailleur springs, but the chain brush is what impressed me the most. Using just dish soap water and this brush to scrub the chain, I removed a LOT of a couple years worth of muck and rust, and the triple-brush configuration shortens the labor.Following up with proper lubrication, not only does it look good, but it's also no longer stiff like it was before it got cleaned.

Totally impressed, I'm looking at trying out more Finish Line products in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, September 28, 2008
I have used this brush for many years. Brush work well on removing dirt, dust, mud, and even some caked-in grime. I have used it on chains which had to wrong lubricant applied and worked much better then a rag. If you can't soak your chain, this works well as a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Depends on the chain, October 7, 2011

For bicycle chains this thing would slide right on and scrub; for motorcycle chains(520 in my case) you'd have to force it to get it over the links. I trimmed the side bristles a bit, after which it would slide right on from the side and did a good job of cleaning(using kerosene as a cleaning agent).

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique design for easy chain cleaning, July 9, 2011
This review is from: Finish Line Grunge Brush Chain: Gear and Chain Cleaning Tool (Sports)
The Grunge Brush head features 3 bristle heads that allows you to clean all 4 sides of a bike or motorcycle chain very quickly. However, it is not as tight of a fit as I'd like on my factory DID V6 chain for my Ducati. The bristles are very large in diameter, so they're not likely to damage the O-ring seals on modern chains. However, I still recommend using a quality degreaser or cleaner in conjunction with the brush.

The bristles are easy to change in the event they need replacement, but my biggest gripe is that there's no easy way to store the brush. I have to zip-tie or tie a loop so I can hang it on the wall in my shop. It'd be nice if they designed that into the handle somewhere or made it a bit more compact. The straight end bristle isn't very useful other than for spreading the grime all over your motorcycle.

Overall: 4/5 stars

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but hard to keep brush clean, January 19, 2010
This review is from: Finish Line Grunge Brush Chain: Gear and Chain Cleaning Tool (Sports)
Never had a problem with the plastic handle breaking, but once you get the bristles really dirty they're very hard to clean off. Bristles, with shipping, cost as much as an entire new brush on Amazon (which can be had with free prime shipping).

I was looking for a grunge brush for my motorcycle chain and ordered the first that popped up on the search. Little did I know, they had a version for bicycles too....

I bought the motorcycle version and it works like a charm. I'm buying a mountain bike next so I'm keeping the product, and I'm confident it will do a good job as well.

The brush tips are a bit hard to remove. Could use some improvement.

2.0 out of 5 stars lacking in design, May 2, 2012

Bought this for my motorcycle chain. Using it with a degreasing aerosol spray all that this brush did was smear the grunge back onto clean parts of the chain. Also, it takes quite a bit of effort to wrap it around your chain to begin with, not to mention scrubbing it back and forth--which wouldn't be an issue if it actually scrubbed the chain clean!

I finally just switched to paper towels, which did a much better job, and were a lot easier to use than the brush. A waste of money, really.
