About the Author

Mr. Ross, a University of Missouri-Columbia graduate, is nothing more than a fifty-something man that was searching for a positive outlet to battle the economic ups and downs that most people experience. He went to a keyboard and let the words flow through his fingertips. He is an avid, low-handicap golfer that enjoys the sport and the lessons of the game. Golf may very well hold the key to a lot of life's best secrets. Lifetime Loser is his first novel. Creative energies will dictate whether or not another story is to be told.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this ..., February 2, 2011
This review is from: Finish Line (Kindle Edition)
A friend loaned me "Lifetime Loser" and I devoured it, so when "Finish Line" was published, I had to go there. I enjoyed the heck out of it, even though there were some very sad passages. Even though this is technically a "golf" novel, the author shows such a true understanding of kids AND adults that it should prove to be an enjoyable read by even non-golfers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finish Line, January 28, 2011

This review is from: Finish Line (Paperback)
I finished the first book, Lifetime Loser, and was ready to read the next part of the saga, Finish Line. The golf story goes on with the two brothers.

I had it done again in 2 days. I had to put it down a couple times because the emotions that it was causing was unbelievable. The cancer with the chemo treatments had me sick to my stomach and sad. The problems with insurance to get cancer treatments is so real. The two boys that he takes under his wings to help out during the summer and to make them learn life lessons was great. The friendships that he has with all of the guys that play golf regularly is great.

The author, James Ross, uses his title Finish Line, numberous times through the story. You always have a start and there is always a finish no matter what you are doing in life.

The only things I didn't like was the ending. It left me hanging for the next book. You don't know if Curt will make it or die. I guess that is what a good author does. He leaves you wanting more.
