If you don't have a good professor who will teach the material to you very well and you're assigned this textbook for the class.... good luck

I don't know if it is all the authors' fault or if there may also have been a lack of preparation for this subject in my particular high-school (where I maintained A's in my math classes), but my entire experience with this textbook has so far been awful. For one thing, the authors approach the subject matter as if the reader is already an expert. They do not stop to explain concepts adequately enough for me to really grasp them; consequently I have to make guesses on my homework in Web Assign (some of which is thankfully multiple choice). I have no idea how to use the graphing calculator with this book and the so-called "explanations" in that area are lacking in explanation.... I wouldn't be surprised if I failed math for the first time EVER because these authors have no idea how to teach this subject matter decently. This has been an utterly ridiculous experience thus far and I doubt it will get any better.

This book was very essential in helping me achieve an A in my Maths 163 class. The writer explains every step so the examples are easy to follow and the answer key is an added plus.
