As a long-time teacher of mathematics and computer science at a small college, I have been called upon to teach nearly every class in the math and computer science programs. Finite mathematics is one of those classes and since I am always trolling for the best textbook; that is the context within which I examined this book.
The coverage is certainly what I consider the material of a course in finite mathematics. The general subjects are, in order of their coverage:

*) Linear equations, linear systems and linear programming
*) The basic mathematics of finance
*) Set theory and basic combinatorics
*) Probability and statistics
*) Markov chains
*) Logic

The exposition is smooth, readable and there are a large number of worked examples, which is the only way my students learn. Technology is included but it is very unobtrusive, a sidelight rather than a focus. A large number of exercises are included at the ends of the chapters and solutions to the odd-numbered problems are included in an appendix.
I do not know when I will teach finite mathematics again, but at this time, this book tops my list of possible textbooks.

Because I have choose this math class in the university, I need to buy this book. And I find it very useful,the process is very clear and particular.All in all,it's a good book.

I got this book for my finite class, and was happy to find it at such a cheap price. The seller said it would be in excellent condition, as I received the book it was brand new, and the book came way earlier than I expected.

This is the right edition and is, as math books go, pretty good. However, the copy I bought said "like new" -- and, while in pretty good condition, the book I bought had writing in it and was NOT "like new". But I can't really complain, as I paid less than a dollar for it, plus shipping.

Received this item in 2 days! Who could ask for more? I just hope I do well in the class. The book does do a good job of explaining things easily.

The book was a great value compared to what you can buy it for at the campus bookstore. The only problem was that we should have ordered sooner, to account for the shipping time.

This was an alright book for finite math. The book did contain real examples (a positive) along with tons of formulas that I'm not sure that I'll ever see again. The probability stuff was good from this book, but some of the explanations were lacking clarity. Some of the topics include: Finance, linear programming of the simplex method and geometric approach, graphs, trees, counting, statistics along with relations and functions.

Book arrived 2 days earlier than I expected in great shape. Brand new condition as advertised. Price was a fraction of what it would have cost in the local college book store! Would use this service again without any hesitation!

The book state that it was 10 edition but when I got the book it was 9edtion which I could not return and quest a new book because of time. I have to compare work with class mate before using book. I unhappy with this.
