5.0 out of 5 stars You're going to giggle and laugh when this little tornado toddler tantrums through the house! CRASH! BOOM! BANG!

Peaches are really pretty good . . . most of the time. You can sit in your little green chair with a smile on your face, swing your little feet tucked into those oversized yellow boots and just feel that fuzzy peach in your hand. Life is good. 1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Children's Book
I bought this for my son Finn who is 2.5, it is neat because it is his name, but that is about all it has going for it.

Topically the book is not educational in the least, it deals in abstract metaphors that aren't conceptually appropriate for the reading level (with about 10 words per page or less) it is aimed at. So, Dr. Seuss has metaphors too, but he at...

5.0 out of 5 stars You're going to giggle and laugh when this little tornado toddler tantrums through the house! CRASH! BOOM! BANG!, August 25, 2009
This review is from: Finn Throws a Fit (Hardcover)

Peaches are really pretty good . . . most of the time. You can sit in your little green chair with a smile on your face, swing your little feet tucked into those oversized yellow boots and just feel that fuzzy peach in your hand. Life is good. BUT on some days you just want to sit in your little green chair, wrap yourself up in your blankie, snuggle it up under your nose and when Mommy offers you that fuzzy peach all sliced up . . . BOOM! That is when little boys named Finn are cranky and "anything could happen." Daddy tries to play ball with him, but even the Jack-in-the-box goes BOING when the thunder and lightning (crash, boom, bang!) erupt over Finn's head. Look out! The little tornado is on the run! Life is not good.

Things rock. They roll. Finn slams the door in his nursery shutting out Mommy and Daddy. The little yellow boots go flying when Daddy brings him into the kitchen. The lightning makes everyone grimace. Did you ever hear such noise coming out of such a little boy? He's rocking, rolling and tumbling from here to there. He cries so much that the house begins to flood and Mommy has to stand on a table to escape the rising water, but the puppy dog simply paddles his way through the horror. "He screams. Look out! Avalanche! He kicks. An earthquake shakes the world." Will the little house survive the terrifying ordeal it has to go through when "FINN THROWS A FIT?"

This is a hilarious little story that every parent can relate to. I laughed and giggled and recalled a few choice memories with each page. Tantruming toddlers are a fact of life and adorable little Finn with his little blankie and little yellow boots will charm your socks off, even when he's rocking and rolling through the entire house. The lively appealing art work adds just the right touch to this zany, but realistic story. I personally think every grandparent should buy a copy of this and give it to their children in thanks for all the (crash, boom, bang!) memories. Life is good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from www.firrkids.com, October 23, 2009
This review is from: Finn Throws a Fit (Hardcover)
As the title implies, Finn has been known to fall prey to a bad mood or two. And when Finn feels the urge to throw a fit, he really gets into it. His body language belies his dark mood - blanket clutched tightly about his shoulders, scowl on his face and (most telling) a big black cloud hovers just above his head. His mom, dad and the dog seem equally clueless - big doofy grins on each of their faces.

Finn's mom makes the mistake of offering him peaches. Usually Finn likes peaches, but today he storms off into the nursery, kicking toys out of his way and slamming the door hard. Everywhere Finn goes, his bad mood creates havoc. There's thunder in the nursery and lightning in the kitchen. Finn's fit becomes a storm that takes over the entire house, shaking it to the core. And just as quickly as it started, it runs it's course and blows over. Finn smiles sweetly and accepts the peaches.

This is an all too easy book for parents to relate to. Who hasn't dealt with a crazy toddler fit? This is also a great big exaggerated way to show kids what their fits can be like. The illustrations are awesome, portraying real storms swirling through the house - an avalanche in the family room and tidal waves in the living room. Best of all are the reactions of the family's pet - the little white dog who steals the show.

Ah, the unreasonable fits of children. So hard to deal with when you are the parent, and yet somewhat enjoyable when you are a bystander. How great to find a picture book that realizes that little irony. The humor and beautiful (yet crazy) illustrations make this a terrific read that we most thoroughly enjoyed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from Books That Heal Kids, March 30, 2010
This review is from: Finn Throws a Fit (Hardcover)
Temper tantrums - a parent's worse nightmare! Finn's body language in the book is PERFECT. It's a really good reflection of what a child looks like when they are pouting, angry, and throwing a fit. Just read the other reviews on Amazon to fully appreciate the impact of this book. If you want to make an impact on your toddler's behavior and encourage them to use their words - get this one on your shelf!

This book made me laugh out loud. The illustrations depict what my house has felt/feels like during tantrums! This is a must have for any parent who has survived the terrible 2's! It simply and accurately describes a day in the life of a toddler....anything can happen at any time for any given reason.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ends my son's fits!, July 5, 2011
This review is from: Finn Throws a Fit (Hardcover)
We stumbled upon this book at the library. I had to check it out because my 4 yr old's name is Finn. He is fascinated by the book and it actually stops his own tantrums! When he is throwing a fit I recite some lines from the book and he settles down almost immediately. I can see him thinking about himself causing the events that happen in the book. I will be buying this book for our own library.

My son's middle name happens to be Finn, so this is a perfect selection for us. Regardless, it's still a great book that never fails to entertain, no matter how many times you read it!
