I usually never write reviews but based on how much this impressed me when I first turned it on and the fact that there are almost no reviews for this light anywhere on the net, I decided to write one. I have a 10 gallon reef tank and until now, never had good lighting for it. So, I have been researching a lot the past couple of months on different lighting because I am starting to add more and more corals to my setup. Man is this light bright and very beautiful. The strip of white LEDs with the strip of blue LEDs brings out a lot of color on my fish and corals...especially my star polyps.

I have uploaded some pics that I took with my zoom. I was hesitant at first because the pics just don't do it justice.

Granted I just received this light today, but I would recommend this light to anyone with a small reef tank.

I will add some notes in few weeks to see how my fish and corals react. I am also very interested to see if my green bubble tip anemone will react positively to it too!

Light looks really good. Its bright and when put with blue led row across front looks more 14K to 15K blue and then you can flip it and have white leds across front for whiter 10-12K look. Guess that offers a kinda color option for people rather than having the leds mixed for blending. I am really surprised at this price for the 20W brightness and good color.
Fits tank fine with adjustable plastic feet on my rimmed tank, it has long plastic screws for bracket so should work fin on rimless. Sits only about 3" above water or about 1 1/4" above glass tops. Brushed silver heat sink back gets a bit warm around middle of light but nothing to worry about led side of light is fine.
I found par charts for it http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?t=184294 - the Day/Actinic and they seem to be really decent for most corals (over 80 at 1 foot and 6 inch spread, I am using in 12 deep 20G long). But I dont know about the light's K value being most accurate to get the benefit from the PAR.
Algae on rocks did pearl after putting on so it must be putting out something, I would recommend.
It replaced the Fluva Sea Marine LED Nano light and is bluer and brighter with 20W versus 13W. They are both of the school with many low wattage LEDS to get PAR and COLOR K versus fewer higher wattage, quality brand LED's - but this light is really at only 25-30% of the cost. For the my price under $100, I got 30" size too, it's worth it even as a test or backup light.

Satisfied with the light for the price although a bit more blue than I had expected.

Pros 1.) affordable 2.) LED

Cons 1.) the adjustable "legs" that the light sits on are notably cheap and did not fit my 30 gal. cube aquarium (19" but I had hoped there would be an adequate range of adjustment in the light. 2.) the power cord is SHORT. I can't picture the advantage of such a short cord and it did not really work for my set up.

Overall as long as the two cons don't worry you this would be a good buy for the price.

This is my first LED lighting that has actinics, so I'm not sure what the color should look like. With that said, the light has a bluish hue to it. I think it too much blue. I will need corals I guess to appreciate the bluish. The aluminum housing is nice, slim. Only con is that there is no separate switch for the actinics.

I'm so beyond excited about this product. My coralife light on my 50 gallon saltwater aquarium caught on fire yesterday. I was extremely worried and needed lighting fast. I found this product and read the reviews I then purchased it at 3:00 pm Tuesday Oct 1. I received it today Oct 2nd at noon and it's working like a dream. The lighting is perfect, the design is sleek, the price is AMAZING. I would recommend this to anyone!

Great constuction and pricing. Similar set-ups online require piecing together the lights, ballast, and switch. That alone will run you $120+.

The aquarium (Fluval Spec V) looks great under the new lighting. The corals seem to be taking to the light, but there has been an adaption period. The stock light wasn't too bright, so transitioning to this beauty was a shock.

Very impressed with the sleek look and construction. A steal for the price.

I LOVE this light. I made a switch from a used T5 with new bulbs and it was not doing anything special for the frags I purchased. As soon as the Ray2 was plugged in my frags perked up and began to grow. I see more coraline algae growth and the colors on my Potters Angle really pop.

I will be purchasing another for a friend who is just staring in this hobby. I'm sure they will love this too.

Let me start this review by saying that I *really* want to like the Finnex Ray2 lights. They're pretty bright - they reach all the way to the bottom of my simple 55gal, and have a nice 10k/actinic color mix. The beams are pretty narrow, so unless you're able to hoist these up a bit away from the tank (the included canopy legs aren't tall enough) you'll probably need two bars for full front and back coverage - maybe more if your tank is wider (mine was 48" wide by 12" deep).

The biggest problem I have with these is... well they're not built well. I picked up a 18" for my smaller 12g marine tank a while ago and that one also had the shock problem, but honestly I couldn't find another brand on Amazon that did LEDs with the same brightness that the Finnex's provided. So I threw the dice and picked up the 48". The 48" are far worse than my 18".

There is a rocker switch on the side to turn off the lights. Now, imagine that the lights are turned off and you touch the top of the light (the silver, aluminium part). The LEDs flicker on and stay on for as long as your finger is touching the light - only at around 5-10% of the total brightness, but you also feel that "tingling" feeling in your fingers. I figured that maybe I just got a bum light and asked Amazon to replace it. The second one I got didn't turn on at all.

I wish I could provide some insight into coral growth and general tank health with these lights, but I haven't been able to keep one running long enough to find out.
