Product Description

This Contemporary Ultra Slim designed LED fixture features a series of LEDs to promote Marine and Freshwater growth. Unlike the Ray II which incorporates multiple High Output LEDS pinched together for high light output, the FugeRay features a more evenly spaced LED alignment ideal for refugium purposes as well as low-medium light needy aquariums. The FugeRay also features moonlights, which can be activated during the evening to give the aquarium a pleasant moonlight tone. All models feature a moisture resistant PC Splash Guard to protect against water mishaps. The durable high output LED bulbs are built to last 40,000+ hours. With a LED spread of 120 degrees, this slim LED bar lights up the largest of aquariums. A unique leg fixture allows this LED light to mount on various sized aquariums and sump setups. To extend LED bulb longevity, the circuit boards are built with high quality aluminum and the fixture itself acts as the heat sync to allow ample cooling and superior heat dissipation. Single power cord with two switches to control both the daylight LEDs and Moonlights.

They are very bright and the blue lights are great as well.
MomofTwo
I have some high light demanding plants (hemianthus callitrichoides and Dwarf Hairgrass) and they are growing very well to this light.
Hirokazu
The added color it brings to the tank is mild but it really does make the plants and fish look better than without them on.

I bought the 10" light to replace my dual T5 fixture. The good price, small size, with a generous quantity of LED for the size all convinced me to try this brand and light. It was packed well and was VERY Bright, to my eye it was brighter than my Dual T5's. I was a little worried with them being 7000k, but it doesn't look more blue than I think it should. It has been on the tank for over a week(almost two) as of writing this review and I've seen no slowdown in new growth with my plants, the stem plants are actually starting to grow faster with this light. I would recommend the light and will be trying the Ray2 HO led fixture on my next tank. I will update in a couple months to let you know how the light works in the long term. For now it gets 5 stars.

Tank info: 15g column, Walstad setup, Co2 injection, fully planted, HOB filter, 10" Rayfuge light.

I have two of these lights (48" fugeray), one for about six months now, and one for about a month or two. Both are working fine so far, on a heavily planted 75 gallon freshwater tank.

I debated a while whether to give it four or five stars, because indeed, there is a single power cord, which means you cannot switch from daylights to moonlights with a timer. You can use a timer to switch the light on and off, but whichever lights are on or off (day or moon) is up to you. However, this is clearly in the description of the item, so I don't think it is fair to remove a star since it is as described, and not a surprise upon receipt. Nonetheless, the single power cord is a pain. If you need a 48" light fixture, chances are you're a pretty serious aquarist, and you want to use a timer, not manually turn daylights and moonlights on and off every single day. Still, as far as I can tell, you can buy two of these lights, one just for the daylights and one just for the moonlights, and still spend less than you would on the competition. In addition, few LED lights use LEDs that are appropriate for plant growth as this one does. The light runs fairly cool, it is bright, slim, and overall I think it is a great purchase at a great price.

If you want to save some money and you are decent with DIY projects, you can easily install a timer on these lights. Much easier than most DIY LEDs out there, because you already have all the components in one package, except the timer. A quick search on eBay for "digital timer relay switch" should find you the right timer (about $10). Make sure it is the 12V version (even though the light power supply provides 15V, I've had no problems using these timers with it; the rectangular looking timers with a yellow tab on eBay).

Update- Dec 2013
- Light stopped working. The 15v tranformer went bad. Replaced with a universal volt adapter set to 15 volts and the light now works. The adapter cost me $12.

This light is on my 10g, which I started in March 2013. The tank is heavily planted and requires weekly pruning.

Light is considered medium light for plants and I keep it on 9hrs/ day. Keeps my red plants red,,, awesome
Compact, nicely made, light weight, easy to move, low power 10w and low heat.

Get the Ray2 if you want to grow high light plants in a high tech setup. Wouldn't recommend the Fugeray for deep tanks (over 12"), but for low light plants the Fugeray will suffice in deeper tanks. For general lighting (no plants) Fugeray is enough, Ray2 is overkill.

Fought all kinds of algae in the beginning, worst being staghorn and black beard. Under control now with high co2 levels, lots of plants and daily fert dosing.

10g tank- de rimmed front
eco-complete substate
Aquaclear 20 Hob filter with intake pre-filter sponge and purigen
Fugeray 20 @ 9hrs/ day
Co2 injected into hob intake 1tsp yeast, 2 cup sugar to 2.84 liter bottle, changed weekly, controlled with mouse solenoid/ timer
dry ferts- Pottasium nitrate, Monopotassium phosphate, epsom salts, CSM+B
50% water change a week

Ammania gracilis, Althernanthera reineckii, Hairgrass, Hydrophilia polysperma, Watersprite,
Crypt parva, Crypt wendtii mioya, Java fern and Java moss

6 Black neon tetra, 6 nerite snails, oto catfish, and approx 100 ghost shrimp
Started with 10 ghost shrimp but they breed like crazy

Fits perfectly on my 12" Marineland 2.5 gal. Very light-weight but a sturdy feel to it. Attaching the two legs was easy. You can slide them in or outwards to accommodate the tank rims.

There's a separate switch for the LED and moonlight on the sides. I wasn't interested in the moon lights but it looks very nice. LEDs are super bright, plants are growing like crazy!

+ Good for nano planted tanks

+ Moderate level lighting for measured growth without worrying too much about algae (depends on your tank parameters/fauna/flora)

+ Solid casing

+ Cool moonlight

- The mounting brackets that are adjustable just plain suck. They don't adjust more than an inch or so and get wobbly

I purchased this for the new addition to my tank collection. After reading many reviews between this and the planted+ I decided upon this one in hopes of having sufficient light but not so much that I would have to use many ferts and injected CO2. This certainly fits the bill and works well. I currently have it setup over my 20 and breeder until I move into my new home and get my larger 75 gallon setup. I'll post a picture of the current setup so others can see. The light is a nice cool light that looks a million times better than the cloudy yellow hue that the original incandescent hood that came with the tank. I've had it up and running for quite some time and I have to say its been a nice addition and my plants are loving it.

Upon initially receiving I decided to pop open the light and see everything that was inside. From the outside you can tell that it is run on three wires. A white one, a blue one, and a black one. I read another review on this light about someone who added a timer to the light themselves and being an engineering student in college I decided I could easily tackle the job also. It certainly was easy to do and I have a timer that I can program with multiple different schedules for different effects to the tank. I will have to create a DIY guide if other people are interested as well. Adding the timer cost me another 10 dollars on top of the cost of this light which in my opinion more than pays for itself when comparing this light and mod with some of the other more expensive light fixtures that include timers or a separate power supply to control the day and moonlights.

Overall this works great and if I encounter any problems I will re-update this review.
