This review is from: The Finnsburg Encounter (Paperback)
It was interesting for me to read this book 5 years after I had written it. Several passages were still enjoyable, and even surprising to me. Others I'd like to rewrite. My favorite part of the book is probably the character Ulestan, who was a real surprise to me. He just appeared--without my having planned for him--and proved to be important.
A few other historical notes... Though I was aware of the arrival of missionary monks in Friesland (Wilfrid and then Willibrord) about 50 years after the time of this novel, and had planned on incorporating this in THE FINNSBURG ENCOUNTER, I hadn't known exactly who my own character Willimond would be, what he would do, or how important he was until he actually "arrived" in the story.
Anyway, I am finally just finishing up and polishing the sequel, and maybe it will be in print some time in 1999, though I have no idea who the publisher will be.
