5.0 out of 5 stars A charming book with a terrific main character, September 18, 2001

This review is from: A Finntown of the Heart (Perfect Paperback)
Finntown of the Heart is the story of Ilmi Mariani Brosi.... a young Finnish-American girl in the 1900's in Northern Minnesota. She is courageous and bright and takes care of her family's problems on her own without consideration of her age or gender. This book reminded me of the charm of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Though the mystery that dominates the last part of the book is sometimes a bit much, I found myself riveted to the story. Very well written. And fascinating if you happen to be Finnish
