5.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive and perfect for the job. 2-piece set perfect for the tea enthusiast., March 29, 2009

This review is from: Finum Goldton Filters, Blue and Green (Kitchen)
This little lightweight infuser is one of the best (and coincidentally the simplest) out there. It does exactly what it is designed to do and does it well.

Pros:
1) The medium size (also the regular size), fits most mugs perfectly and the size of the basket enables the tea leaves to unfurl fully giving an even steep and allowing full release of all the subtle flavors.

2) The mesh itself does not retain or affect flavors when rinsed/washed well between uses.

3) The fine mesh (also on the underside of the infuser) catches all tea leaves except for the finest dust while allowing liquid to flow freely.

4) The lid is a very thoughtful addition as it can also be used as a drip tray for the infuser.

5) This infuser may also be used for steeping coffee and makes a decent cup (2 tablespoons per cup).

6) The Large size can be used in large mugs and of course teapots.

7) The Infuser (Med size) is available in burgundy, green, blue and standard black so one can easily differentiate between Infusers used for flavoured and non-flavoured teas or coffees.

Cons:
1) The minimal plastic ribs may attact and retain oils in coffees and in artificially scented teas.

2) Allowing a patina to develop on the mesh, will partially clog the mesh over time while also transfering flavors if using different teas with the same filter.

This set has 2 different colored brewing baskets enabling the tea enthusiast to differentiate between baskets used for different teas or for tea and coffee. A thoughtful gift for the enthusiast.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of The Best!!!, October 30, 2009
This review is from: Finum Goldton Filters, Blue and Green (Kitchen)
I have used this type of filter for many years and find this Finum filter to be one of the best. This filter has especially fine mesh, which traps all but the most infinitesimally small sized particles of tea or coffee. This filter has a most generous, well thought out size and shape, which fits most cups and many teapots, allowing free flow of water and complete unfurling of whole leaf teas. They are German-made. It is sturdy enough with reasonable care, washes or rinses easily and completely with no "hidden traps" for leaf particles or grounds and lasts just about forever. The cover, which DOES NOT attach, but merely sits on top, helps to keep your water warmer while steeping and functions as a drip-proof coaster to hold the filter when you are finished. The downside with all of these type filters is that, eventually, the filter holes will slowly become so clogged with tea/coffee oils and particles that they will be impossible to thoroughly clean, thus needing to be replaced. (I've tried every method of cleaning!) This occurs much sooner when using coffee, but eventually happens with tea usage, as well. But, for the price, they are not too expensive to replace every few years and overall, provide a far superior way to steep tea/coffee. In the long run, they are much cheaper than tea bags, better for the environment and allow a much more varied and pleasurable tea experience. We very much like these and will purchase again.

I find these filters on the spendy side, but, worth every penny anyhow. When they eventually wear out, I most assuradly will buy another set. No tea dust in my cup. I like it.

Sooo much better than the strainer ball. You get a blue and a green strainer that fits easily over a coffee mug.

The mesh is super fine so it doesn't let any leaves through. As there is nothing to keep the teal leaves from floating, raise and dunk a couple of times to get all the tea leaves wet.

Cleaning is very easy and although they are rated dishwasher safe, a quick rinse under the tap seems to be much easier (plus I'm afraid that the fine mesh may trap some soap particles in the dishwasher).

We bought this set because my husband & I like different kinds of tea. I love that it has a top that doubles as a base to set it on after steeping. Its easy to clean and durable too.

These two filters came last night, and saved the lives of my loose leaf teas, which I was about to trash, as they ended up in my mugs with the OTHER infusers I was using....these are perfect, easy to use, and allowed the leaves to unfurl and swell and rinsed out easily after use!!!! Great product at a great price!! Thank you!

I've had one of these for years. They are perfect for making a single mug of tea. The tea has room to move and brew; pull out the filter when done and no leaves get through the mesh.

forget those tea balls and clapper spoons. These are the best thing you'll ever come across for brewing loose tea in your cup, mug, or travel tumbler. There is plenty of room for the leaves to float around and infuse. The filters are super easy to clean and very durable, the metal filter is molded into the sturdy plastic frame.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Infuser By Far, April 23, 2011

This pair of filters is even better then the $16 stainless one from Forlife (which doesn't even fit into a regular mug). These fit all mugs well and are made with very fine metal mesh that produces very little sediment even with fine teas. I am so confident in the quality that I bought four sets as gifts. Recommended without hesitation.

We have used this type of filter for a while now. I have purchased others and even a more expensive Swiss filter. I ended up coming back to these. The new teas are smaller and ground. The old methods of infusers just allow bits to get through. These do not. You only get a good cup of clean tea when you are done.
I wish they were cheaper but for the cost they last a very long time.
