5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and entertaining March 23, 2010
A cute enjoyable story that either a child or an adult will enjoy. Like any child, human or faery, Fiona is naturally curious and that curiousity leads her into mischief.

As an adult, it was a wonderful breather from real life so this book isn't only for children. Kids will love to read about Fiona and her adventure. This is the type of story that will encourage children to read as it engages their imagination with the wonderfully creative world that Ms. Putnam has created.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Children's Story May 26, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a pleasant surprise! A sweet children's story with a moral about listening to your elders & the consequences of morbid curiousity.

The photographs add to the story.

Over all, it brings back memories of stories I loved as a child.

A nice story to share with your children at bed time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fiona a precocious fairy March 30, 2010
R.M. Putnam has woven an enchanting tale of Faeries and Mischief. Fiona is a precocious fairy with a mind of her own. Naive in the face of danger Fiona did not understand how dangerous her situation was even after Queen Aideen's counsel. The reader is drawn into this fairy tale watching intently to see how Fiona, ignoring the Queen, is able to safely come home. Without giving away the ending Fiona is able to learn a valuable lesson and something about the Evil Crone that she will not soon forget. There are unanswered questions that leave us wanting for more. I cannot wait to see what the Author R. M. Putnam has next in store for Fiona. The illustrations help to being the story to life. I would recommend this book for any child enthralled with Fairy Tales.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fiona Learns A Lesson. April 28, 2010
Fiona's Wings is an engaging and entertaining tale for children of all ages. Ms. Putnam draws the reader into the story by first establishing Fiona's special gift and her willful determination to be the little captain of her own ship in spite of Queen Aideen's warnings about the evil Hester!

I enjoyed the manner in which the author brought forth the imagery of Fiona's dreams as she ventured through the woods. Her use of photography is interesting and helps bring the story to life. I believe children are especially drawn to adventure stories that have life lessons or morals. There are several life lessons in this tale--which we all can learn from. A recommended read for all children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming Faery Story December 6, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
FIONA'S WINGS is a charming tale, complete with life lesson. Fiona is a curious and adventurous faery child who is searching for a crystal ball to answer her questions about the future. Her dreams had told of a male faery who would grow to be king of the faeries. Since she knew of no male faeries, she was determined to find the answer to this mystery. The faery queen warns her of the wicked crone Hester who would steal her wings for a potion to return the crone to the beauty she had once been. Fiona felt she could outwit the crone and went off in search of the crystal ball...

Ms Putnam's photos are intriguing and add to the story. Young girls, especially, will be drawn in by the photos (a real little them)and the language which enhances the images and the imagination of the reader.
