Editorial Reviews

Review

“. . . a well-wrought comprehensive review of the biology of this exceptionally interesting, as well as economically and environmentally important, group of insects. It will henceforth be an indispensable introduction and reference work for anyone undertaking their study.”--Edward O. Wilson, Harvard University
(Edward O. Wilson, Harvard University )

Review

"The author . . . tells about the little demons in an unbiased and easy-to-read manner. Since he approached the miserable little insect with matter of fact writing, I wonder if Taber has ever really been bitten, although he claims to have been `stung hundreds of times.' If he has and can still write objectively, he is a better man than me--I can hardly talk about them with a civil tongue."

This review is from: Fire Ants (Hardcover)
A fascinating book. While it also includes a well illustrated taxonomic key, I found its main strength to be the discussion of the fire ants' biology and ecology. If you liked Dr. Taber's Harvester Ant book, you will probably also like this one.
