5.0 out of 5 stars Memorable, September 18, 2009
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
David Clement-Davies has such a gripping writing style. His imagery overwhelmes the senses and he has an incredible talent for personification. People say "the verbs make the author", and this is true for Davies. He knows just how to transform what could be a simple movement of shadow or gust of wind into something captivating and emotional. Combined with Davies' strong style, his research he put into all of his books shows through in FIREBRINGER. Deer are not my favorite animals, but I decided to give it a try since THE SIGHT, about wolves, was such a memorable experience for me.

FIREBRINGER did not disappoint. A good book for me captures my attention from the beginning; I don't have much patience for books to grow into something. The establishment of characters and gorgeous setting, the tyranny of the politics mixed with the theme of animals to compare to people, are all great elements set up in the first chapter. This book is not without its surprising twists and turns, and I garauntee a reader won't get bored with this novel if they're into animal-themed books. It's an emotional journey filled with symbolism, friendship, betrayal, everything all jam-packed into one amazing book. Davies' extended metaphor of Rannoch to Christ is certainly interesting, and the end is much like the fate of that religious symbol. Readers of FIREBRINGER, or anything by David Clement-Davies, will find this as much of a journey as it is for Rannoch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire Bringer, July 4, 2009
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Kindle Edition)
Great book! Really good read. The story is about a young deer named Rannoch who had to leave his herd, because of an evil deer named Drail who killed his Rannochs father. The story is about Rannochs effort to get rid of the evil deer- who are a menace to all Lera ( animals), and figure out the secrets of his own power.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow. Thats all i have to say., February 5, 2008
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
well, i kinda have to say a bit more. This book ranks on my top ten reads. magnificent. original. near perfection.

So Rannoch is a red deer, with all the great characteristics of a strong main character. He lives completely unaware of the danger, his identity, and his powers. This book leads you through many pages all the way to a solid ending.

Five stars. No question about it. BUY IT. (also be sure to read The Sight, by the same author, similar book.)
