Caught up in Fiction,
By
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
If you ever wanted something that was worth reading, then i suggest Fire Bringer by David Clement-Dawes. If you dont, then, well, i pity your imaginative soul and the survival of your imagination. Im in love, and its with this book. Books have that affect on me, and its rather pathetic, but i surrender to new worlds each and every time i pick one up. This is only the 2nd book that ive ever read thats touched me so much that im pissed off even when a least favorite character of mine dies, i literally threw it against the wall, and then retreived it and apologized for my unrashness. How can something fictional affect my real life? I think im wandering between reality and fiction, and im liking fiction alot more. Who knows, some day i may end up in the looney bin, but with my imagination, i will not be alone. No indeed. The book. So much deception, and murder, and conspiracy, i love it to death. A prophecy that must be fufilled, or death will come to all the Herne. People, read this book, if you like to read. Even if you dont like to read. This book is a god amongst anthromorphic books, and im loving it.

This book rules. The beggining is sad, (i cried. ;( ) But this book is good for reader's who like nice thick books, and who like animals. Fire Bringer is about a buck ( boy deer ) named Rannoch. Born on the night his father is murdered by Sgorr and Drail, his life is based upon a prophecy. His mother is forced to go with Sgorr and Drail, and Rannoch lives with another hind. (girl deer) But then they must flee, starting Rannoch's extrodinary adventure and destiny. This might not have been the best review... but GET THIS BOOK. ONCE YOU READ IT, READ A BOOK CALLED: THE SIGHT.

Fire Bringer,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
Imagine that you have just given birth to a beautiful fawn, only to find out that his father had been viciously murdered only moments before. You are Eloin, and now are forced to be with the malicious Lord of the Herd, Drail. When Eloin's fawn, Rannoch, is five months old, he must leave the Home Herd with a doe that he thinks is his mother because of a Prophecy. For six years, Rannoch's journey leads him to encounter his special powers, his problems, secrets and Lera(animals) along the way.I would recommend Fire Bringer for anyone who lovs to get sucked into a book so you feel as if you're one with the Herla(deer) cantering through the heather, munching on the grass, and stampeding into battle. Clement-Davies writes with so much power and detail it's almost overwhelming. I hope you will love this book as much as I did.

Fire Bringer,
By A Customer
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Hb) (Hardcover)
"Fire Bringer is a riveting story and deserves to be widely read..." These were the words of the author of the infamous Watership Down. I do not believe that they do this book justice.Fire Bringer is the story of Rannoch, a young deer born to fulfill a destiny that he desperately tries to escape. He is the fawn born with an oak leaf birthmark on his forehead, the fawn destined to lead his kind (the Herla- -deer) out of the tyranny of their evil ruler, Sgorr. This book is a deep novel that manages to make acute, yet general ties to religion and compels you to the end. However, David Clement-Davis' writing style is crisp and imaginative- -it does not weigh the reader down so that they feel exhausted when finished reading. Instead, it makes them feel refreshed, and even awed, by the exquisite brilliance of this book. I couldn't put Fire Bringer down- -it is packed with adventure, prophecies, action, myth, anthropomorphic genius, and even a hint of romance (though it is difficult to do so with deer, making Clement-Davis' writing all the more impressive). I highly suggest it to anyone in search of a good read. Like it or not, it will hold you to the very end- -for example, I loved the charm and dark foreboding of the beginning part, and was slightly disappointed to lose it as I moved on to Rannoch's more mature adulthood. However, I found the part one's light foreshadowing was only building up to a greater, more fantastical destiny. I was kept on the edge of my seat, and, despite age or genre preference, I'm sure it will keep anybody else lucky and smart enough to read it there, too. I would also recommend David Clement-Davis' other, daker masterpiece, The Sight, to anybody who liked Fire Bringer. It centers, however, on wolves...

an epic worth reading,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
Fire Bringer is truly an epic. It chronicles the whole life of a deer. The way the book is set up and the writing style is great. It starts on a dark and stormy night when the main character is born on that same night his father is murdered. the book never stops from there. The ending is a bit of a let down but the whole stor is so amazing that it doesn't matter. I highly recommend this book to all ages. It will give you an appreciation of nature and especially deer that no other book can give you. READ THIS BOOK!!!

I enjoyed 'Fire Bringer' very much! It is to this day my favorite book. It has a wonderful plot, and the author has set up a wonderful imaginative world for you to dive into with Rannoch and his friends. This book is very wonderfully detailed and is very descriptive. The ending leaves you with mixed emotions, however it does wrap things up very well. My favorite of all time! A must-read for any animal lover!

Fire Bringer obsessor,

I personally find this book to be the best book i have ever read in my entire life. I'm pretty picky about what i read, but this is so spectacular and the writing is incredible! It's better than Warriors, better than Avalon, better than anything and everything. I read this book in only 3 days because it was so good. It's 498 pages long, but it goes fast. It has such a rich and vivid plot and each chapter is full of mystery. It would be good for a book report because, even after you read this long book, you still remember everything about as if you just started to read it.
It takes place in Scotland during the time of Norse Raiding (FYI)

'The Lion King' with deers,
By
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
One of my favourite books - if not my favourite!
I adored reading this book. The first time I read it I was gripped from start to finish. I recommended it to my friend and she too fell in love, stating it'd had been while since a story had her so excited. As an animator, she mused the idea of this being another 'Lion King'. We really wish someone at Disney would read 'Fire Bringer'! Though this deer story is far edgier then your average 'Bambi'.

An okay story, but...,
This review is from: Fire Bringer (Paperback)
I have read through the novel The Sight, which touched my heart and left me almost crying at the end. Then I decided, mostly from reviews saying it was even better than The Sight. But when I actually read David Clement-Davies earlier animal fiction novel, Fire Bringer, I was left with a letdown.
Many plot twists were expected, while one was plain morbid. Unlike The Sights' deaths, Fire Bringers' deaths were sudden, leaving me angry. Another thing in Fire Bringer was the prophecy. One of the lines was "Sacrifice shall be his meaning." Rannoch, the Larry-Stu main character, never sacrificed anything at all. I guess Clement-Davies' work will just get better with experience. Despite the good reviews, I would advise people to read The Sight instead of Fire Bringer. Though some parts were gripping, most were dragged out. |
