Amazing follow-up,

This review is from: On Fire (Audio CD)
The Cottars' new album On Fire is an amazing follow-up to their initial CD Made in Cape Breton. This new CD continues the tradition of the excellent fiddling by Roseanne, the beautiful singing of Fiona and the musical work of Jimmy and Ciarán. But it also adds new elements: a harp medley by Fiona, some guitar jigs by Jimmy and a composition by Ciarán, who also helped arrange the CD. These teens are great ambasssadors for Cape Breton, Celtic music and for teens in general. As a former teacher, I love seeing great talent being put to good use. The group is a success already and will just keep getting better, as this CD shows. Congratulations Cottars!!!!!

The Cottars continue to impress with their beautiful harmonies and arrangements. Here's hoping there's much more to come.

Excellant representation of Cape Breton music,

These kids are absolutely fantastic musicians. Being just young teenagers (15,16,& 17), it's hard to believe how mature they sound on their second album. Roseanne, Jimmy, Ciaran and Fiona are going far. It's great to see that the next generation of celtic music in Cape Breton is a group of unbelievable singers, musicians and dancers. They've even begun to study the Gaelic language. Look out!

Next Generation of Fine Celtic Music,

I just saw this group at a Celtic Festival. Their oldest members are now in the just turned 20 age range, and when you meet them up close and personal, the charm of Cape Breton (Canada) culture comes across strong. Their youth and enthusiasm is overpowering. "On Fire" highlights the excellent vocal harmony of the group. They emphasized more of the instrumental, lively music at the festival. (...) I would hope that they get exposure in Ireland and Scotland, as they may be a channel to connect young people in these countries with their traditional music.
